7:1 does higher damage if that is what you are talking about. Even without nukes. Pure INT would do more. If you are talking about criticals. A lower amount of INT would do better since you would have more STR for a higher crit.

hmmm s/s is better to stay higher than 85% magical naked. it would be good to use nukes because its way faster to grind with it instead of using chains or kd. all you need to do is nuke and lion shout to finish a mob off. 7:1 int s/s is strong, if you cant one nuke a mob, use a spear to grind so it would go much faster. its up to you on doing your own build, good luck with it.

Sounds good to me. What are you trying to accomplish with those balances?

Well 1:4 is about a 82% magic balance naked. (I think in balances so I have to convert). That balance would be considered normal for spear, and a little heavy for sword. Your nuke damage will still be pretty decent actually, not equal to pure int or anything but you will be able to grind pretty fast. I know she only got to lvl 62 but my gf had a 80%naked s/s and it was the strongest 1 vs 1 build I have ever seen. She had great gear though, it always comes down to gear in the end. Oh and I know this sounds weird but in the end she was using a 60+7 blade and her crit damage was extremely high. Honestly even with sword we never saw a blader crit higher then her, and with a high crit blade she had lots of fun chaining enemies.
You could go anywhere between 1:2 - pure int and still have a successful build, so anywhere in the 80% area would be just fine.

Stay pure or get a spear (Yes it's a good motto)

bladers just dont crit that high... imbue damage would make up for her not being pure str on crits so crit about same
and 80% mag gives her enough str to crit mildly well to begin with
edit: i've seem some str hybrid bladers doing well, i mean high hp is nice but you only need enough hp to not die to a nuke or two... extra is just extra so the int will help with imbue damages

Yep I agree with everything you say. Most people think its all some made up lie that ints and hybrid ints crit as hard as str characters. Ive known str hybrid blade and glaves (lvl 80) that do well though the difference isn't very dramatic when compared to int vs int hybrid.

What about a 1:2 Int Spear Hybrid with Heukasl, Cold and Light all maxed out when I hit 80, or 90 if that cap comes before I even reach that high? Should I go with fire or keep doing what it is I'm doing?

Welcome to the forums. Ice light hueksal is a very nice build. with a 1:2 balance you can have snow shield at 40%max which is lvl 60. With 40% snow you will tank as well as a pure str for those 2 min.
Since you only need lvl 60 ice for snow shield if you aren't taking ice imbue you could make it a sub and take either fire or ress skills.
Personally I really like ice imbue but it seems to get less useful the higher you get in lvl.
Fire will give you strong nukes, magic defense, and physical damage increase that will make your weapon skills stronger. It also has a slightly stronger imbue, but thats only if you want to have max fire.
Personally I run lvl32 fire for physical increase skills and status immunity which you can get around character lvl 52 with fire shield.
So I realize I am not being to clear but what I am trying to say is, you don't even have to decide what you are going to do till around lvl 60. For now just stick with light and ice and if you decide to add fire or something you can do it then pretty easily.

Would it be wise to go with fire? Say I wanted Ice, Light, Fire and Heuksal. Once I hit level 80 how would I max those skills out? Like; Heuksal=??, Light=??, Fire=??, Ice=??
Basically, since this character is low level now, I wan't to make sure I don't screw it up like the last 3 characters I made. Right now, this is my 4th and I want to make it good. I screwed up the stats of my level 31 Wizard.

For 80 cap standard build could be: 80 hueksal, 80fire, 80 light, 60 ice. Probably the best for 1vs1 pvp at current cap. The problem is you can only have 300 masteries so at 90 cap if you continued with this build you would have to drop ice to 30. You would loose out on a lot of defense if you did.
So for 90 cap most people are going hueksal 90, 90light, 90ice, 30 fire.
Or you could do something like 90hueksal, 90fire, 60ice, 60light.
There are pros and cons to all builds, IMO you need 60 ice min for that 40%snowshield, and you need 90 hueksal since you need max weapon skills, you are a heavy hybrid. The rest you can vary to suit your tastes.
Again you can always adjust skills with the curst heart quest, so you don't need to really make a final decision till around lvl 60.

90 cap : 90 hueskal, 90 light, 90 ice 30 fire
isnt good for heavy hybrid . heavy hybrid needs fire atlest 60 for phy buff and mag buff

Since I'm most likely not going to reach level 80 until the 90 cap comes out (its coming this summer, right?) I'll probably go with hueksal 90, 90light, 90ice, 30 fire as suggested. Also, I'd like to point out that I also have my character wearing garms. Good idea or should I go with protector? I like the speed boosts garms offer though, and it has more magical defense right?

garms or protector would both be fine. I like the speed boost from garms as well. Yes garms have higher magic defense, but lower physical defense then protector. Basically when you are higher lvl. If you find yourself dying to a lot to glaviers but nukers don't hurt you then switch to protector. Its that simple you can switch as many times as you want lol.

Bah, being the indecisive whore that I am, I made yet another character; this time pure int Wizard with bard just for buffs (my last wizard I screwed up the stats bad and put some points into STR, which I learned too late that it was a big no no). Anyways, once I hit level 20 with the chinese character, I had a hard time leveling up because I'm so used to the one shot kills that wizard has.
