In Bicheon, theres the skill called Mountain Shield which increases the Blocking Ration by a % for 15 seconds. At level 80, this skill has a 35% Blocking Ratio increase.
Does this skill add onto the BR you already have? For example:
Shield BR 16 = 16%
Passive = 8%
Mountain Shield = 35%
16% + 8% + 35% = 59%
Therefore the total BR for 15 seconds would be 59%, so roughly 6 out of 10 hits would be blocked.
Or does the skill work like this:
Shield BR 16 = 16%
Passive = 8%
Mountain Shield = 35%
16% + 8% = 24%
24 x 35% = 8.4
24 + 8.4 = 32.4%
I was just wondering because I have Mountain Shield Blocking Ratio 32% Increase, and noticed almost no increase in Blocking Ratio. I was at mages today, and I activated the skill for 15 seconds, and I had 2 blocks in about 10 hits. Is this normal? If it is, this skill seems kinda useless to max, or am I just unlucky?
Thanks for any help!

Sigh, well Iron Shield protects in phy def only. So Mountain Shield is helpful against Nukers or INT characters. Iron Shield wont help at all from a nuke but Mountain Shield will increase the chances of blocking a nuke which could mean potting all the way back up. Yes, it would be at 59% so yes the first method works.

It says specifically that it increases physical block ratio.... nothing about magic attacks.
It is on the same timer as the other block series so its really worthless. You can't use one shield skill and then another after..
It might be useful for a full int player that is going to be one shotted either way.

That's a typo because Ive seen increased blocking ratio from Mountain Shield. Where br 10 blocks as much or more than br 20.

Not going to argue with you on its effectiveness. You can't tell the difference.
The only use I can see for the skill is if your a full int that is going to get killed in one hit by a large physical attack like that of a 2hand sword in pvp or job war. The extra block might make the difference as opposed the the extra phys defense.
Overall though i think its a waste. Specially for a pure str blader.

True, we are discussing and not arguing. Well ive seen bladers use it and they've tanked even wizard plus a few more guys hitting him with snow on tho. Ive seen good INTS manage to survive even the strongest critical by a 2h warrior with snow on and Iron shield. Mountain Shield ive seen used against INTs and it works perfect.

mountain shield BR % doesnt work out as addition to the current BR, there was a topic on this b4...but the shield passive does add onto the shield BR, so 16+8 = 24%, yes
but mountain hield 32% increase is not addition but increase in chance = 24% x (100%+32%)
= 24% x 1.32 = 31.68%
but its totally random so its up to ur luck, u can get hit 8/10 even if mountain shield is on and u can block 6/10 if u are real lucky
