Did I mess up?

Post by sour-kiwi »

Ok, I'm looking for someone's experience, advice, and general opinion on my chosen build: Pure INT archer, lightning/force sub.

Image

I do loads of damage to mobs my level, and usually kill in 1 or 2 hits. Being an archer, unless I get mobbed, they usually don't land a hit on me. However, I pale in PVP, and I've pretty much accepted the fact that this is purely a back-up character.

What do you think?

I would slowly start getting rid of pacheon, and start putting points into spear or sword.

Agreed. Int Archer is THE definition of suckage in terms of PvP.

Yeah, but your talking millions in gold spent deleveling everything, unless I buy a bunch of skill reallocation potions, which would cost me alot of actual money...

GUH... I don't wanna start over :banghead:

I also suggest you go Spear/Sword to make the most of your build. :/
LVL 36.. it's not too late at all!

Bow is fun, but pvp is horrendous for pure int bows imo.
As an INT build, you'll always be doing loads of dmg...but you can deal more damage with a spear as opposed to a bow.

I do, however, have a guildmate who is pure int and uses bow for pve and sword/shied to nuke for pvp. He says nuking gets boring and bow keeps things interesting.

yeah, keep your bow skills but get a good sword/shield w/ at least 16 blok ratio for pvp.

Hmmm, I could deal with that..

Perhaps I will get rid of my cold mastery (which is doing pretty much nothigng for me) and put some points into bicheon (for the BR etc).

Or should I switch entirely to spear?

Sword switch was the best thing I've ever done.

keep leveling bow, forget the sword or spear masteries, just buy a decent spear or sword/shield to use when you pvp, of if u wanna grind using ur nukes, use a spear. Bows are fun to play with, cruddy dmg, but fun :D

Is he pure int or int-hybrid? Can he give some comments about his build please?

You dont need to restart, bow passives and white hawk help nukers anyway, so just keep it. Most sword/shield nukers dont even use any bichon skills at all, so all you need to to carry a sword/sheild for pvp :P

Only thing I would suggest tho is to pump sp into Light rather than bow.

It is really hard to play a character that keeps you depressed. :) If you will make corrections with your character, there is still the depression that you have missed-out some parts or that you will be wasting a lot of money. I agree that slowly deleveling isn't that hard of a burden :P I think you can still be an effective nuker. I suggest that you start investing more on sword/shield, keep the birdie (or maybe delevel down to 20 to save you more mastery points). Your character is not totally messed up. :D

he is a str archer lol otherwise he wouldnt crit a manyang for 44k

if you want an example of a high level int bow, look at witchcraft. although he has donned sword and shield for pvp, he had a bow til 6x.. he might still be using it, not sure.

I love fighting pure int archers. They're soooooo easy to kill. No shield to block, no extra hp from hueksal passive.

That's why you rarely see them.

Right now I'm working on my lit pure int archer (maybe a max of 5 str points added) on Troy as well. I'm currently level 26, (had a nice bow but broke it during a upg :( ), but I *did* put skills in hueksal passive for the HP, pretty much had to, although I may consider adding a spear for a few skills.

Of course I don't wanna PVP with this char, just PVM so I can build up a good account of stuff for other characters. I can take on maybe 2-3 enemies (around my level) at once as long as I use potions and don't lag. Lag and more than once char I have a tendecy to die because potions don't wory. Right now HP is 1k, but I do have a few +str and MP is 2.1k with some +int on gear as well.

Unlike a lot of builds I have seen, so far I have been leveling all of the bow skills, even the Autumwind arrow. My attack sequence right now is this:

Start Anti-Devil, cast lit imbue before it goes, 2 arrow combo, autumwind, [then if needed] lion shout.

That usually, barring lag, kills most of the enemies around my level, sometimes I may have to attack one more time with a regular shto to finish off the enemy (rem worse bow). My way of seeing it is that you want to be able to do as much as damage continously, so rather than shoot 2 regular arrows in place of the autumwind, I use the autumwind since it usually gets just a bit dmg more than the guided arrow (and even better when it crits), just my strat. By the time autum is done, guided is avalible and I can start the cycle again if needed.

If I had a higher dmg bow, which I'll be looking for one soon, let's say over 110/170 min, then I'd not really need the autum, but its there while guided is recharging, which is really helpful on giants. Sure the attacks are slower for autum and guided, but with demon soul arrow, I can at least cast those two back to back if needed, then multi and shout when they get close, just depends on what im fighting.

Let's see what else, sorry I'm kinda jumping and rambling :)

As for the Cold skill tree I've skipped it altogether. I was thinking about the frost debuff, but right now I don't see that really helping. Only thing I know itd help on are earth ghosts, which I hae trouble with, a lot of trouble ^^. The same applies for fire, no use for any of it atm.

Force and Lit are both at 23 right now.

Force - Reason its 23 is for harmony therapy, which is a must have I would say for an int PVM. Not only do I save money on pots, I have less worries of getting gang banged in aggro areas (Hygunod Soldiers I'm looking at you) I also decided to up my Res and heals, just to be able to help anyone in need :) (I res a lot of people, but when I've died so far, I've been res'd so keeping a good karma circle going)

Lit - Everythings maxed at its current level. I'm stick at 23 to build up SP again. I had to rush to 21 to use a wayyy better bow.

That's about it. I just want to get to 30 for nukes :) But I still have a ways to go. The key thing that I see is a really good weapon. Once you have that, you don't need to really worry about other awesome gear (although I am PVM so no need)

Not sure any of this helped, just talking :D Good luck with your char!
