Dual Axe or 1 hand as a tank 8/8

Post by GodsAngel »

I've leveled my 1hand to 67 and I've got to say I think I've picked a good build since I'm always in 8/8 parties

== Euro parties are awesome on Venus ~Avalon ftw~ ==

The other day my friend pointed out Axes have bleed as well as stun, and as far as defense goes 1hand have more than they need with a good party. So... can anyone give me their opinion which is the preferred tank 1hand or DualX?

my opinion.. dualX at 60+, 1 hand before howling is available.~ (and 2 hands are just lame ~cough asy cough.~) ~

== as far as pvp goes both are very hard to kill ==

1H is more preferable to tank because 1H has a shield. I haven't tried it myself, but I think with a shield, a 1H can tank much more.

Hi GA :P. Well I still think 1h would be the better tanker, even if you are in a good party with cleric(s), there will be times when you can only level without a cleric, and thats when 1h would be best. 2hx is good, since warriors are the designated tanking builds, they just tank in different ways. 1h gives you absolute defense with a sheild + passive, while 2hx has better attacks, aggro, and relative defense in the form of stun (and kd for 2hs, but sux for team grinding unless you have other warriors in your team).

with wizard's earth barrier/ cleric's bless and healing... you wont lose too much hp

you dont really need a shield really either if you are stunning every few hits, as good as a block

edit: axe has def passive too

1h is impressive. I especially like how they can knock monsters away (which even cancels out any unfinished attack. coolio). I have found keeping aggro a problem though, but the mini-warrior was not even 20 yet; i'm guessing vital increase-aggro would help out there.

I think though, if you have more than enough firepower, especially since you have 8/8, axes would be cooler: Higher damage, along with status. The only thing that bothers me about warriors in general is improperly-used knockdown, but that's in 2h anyways.

...1h is easier, but here are my wise observations:

Depends what you are tanking.
If you tank up to 5 levels higher, with a cleric, axes are just fine, you can easily do 7-8 party mobs even without the shield, and with stun, it makes up for not having more defense when you have 1 less mob hitting you most of the time.

With anything 5 or more lvls higher, you pretty much need the shield. Same goes with anything that has m.atk when you are wearing armor. With level 72 cleric, you can tank level 80 generals...and like 8 of them with a shield, even at 70. Shields can be like 20% of your defense, especially with those passives, so purely for tanking shield is much better than axes.

If you are a level 60 warrior and you are tanking yetis...might as well use axes, it's not like you will ever die, and the cleric won't even break a sweat healing you. Sure s/s tanks more, but it makes the cleric feel useless cuz they won't even need to heal you anymore.....

Im level 68 tanking generals and my friend is 70 he's a 2hand tanking generals we're even tanking wise.

our parties on Venus are very good and we never solo that's the main reason why im considering switching to axe otherwise I'd have gone 2hand.

sup sylhana lol.

thanks for your ops. i got both to 60 mastery so I'm going to try tanking with both best way is to experiment, got all the time in the world anyway.

If we are still talking tanking only, block = 0 dmg, and with a good BR shield you just can't compare to axes. I've seen my friend pull out 5 blocks at like 1k hp (at the same time), it's saved him countless times.

yes 1h is much better at tanking as long as you got a good br on your shield when i was 48 my br on the shield was 15 +58% it saved my life countless times. so i would say for tanking go 1h but axes seem more powerfull but i do not have any high lvl euros (dam botters and no partys)

yea it's saved me countless times as well, pvp and pve can't tell you how many times I've lived.

Now I'm at generals the stun is annoying I figure axe passive might help against that? it doesn't say anything about not affecting stun..

And the bleed I'm sure will come in handy since we don't have any warlocks at our level atm. Still waiting to find a 68 dual axe to try it.. i'll post again when I do. (everyone seems to npc dual axes grr.)
