weapons

Post by Gamero »

Hi, i have a couple of questions.

first: If you have 2 weapons, let's say 2 merciless snake spears, that have identical stats (the same attack power, magical attack power, and so on), but one of them has +1. Are they equally good? Or is the +1 better?

Second: If you have 2 weapons, with identical stats, but one of them has a seal of star. Is the SOS one better? How much better?

Third: in the skill descriptions, after is says how much damage a skill does, there is a percentage. for example: 10~15 (100%). what does that percentage stand for?

1st: if one is +1 they dont have identical stats (physical and magical dmg are bigger with the +1)

2nd: same as the 1st. SoStar is like +3 weapon, SoM is like a +5 weapon and SoSun is like a +15 (that is impossible but I hope you know what I mean)

two of 3 description for the SOX item you gave are incorrect SOS is between +5 and +7 SOM it's between +8 to +14

ok, so if i want to correctly compare 2 items to see which is better, i ONLY need to look at the stats?

If they have the same *exact* stats (I have seen this quite a few times now between just one + level - i.e. a +3 being better than a +4, a +0 being better than +1), then the +0 is better because it will end up better if upgraded. Also, the +0 may be less expensive . . . well, depending on if the person selling doesn't realize its potential.

The fact is there can be a fairly large difference in stats on same level stock weapons, but many people don't account for this when buying a weapon.

If the stats are *exactly* identical (which is impossible due to various reasons), that means the non-SOS weapon is, lets say, a +6. So, the SOS has the advantage of being able to be upgraded easier - going for +7 is waaaaay more risky than going for +1 (on the SOS). Of course, the SOS looks cooler too.

You will hear people say SOS equals +5 - this is wrong. People who say this don't understand how reinforce factors into the phy and mag attack of a weapon as it appears in your stat window. Once reinforce is considered as well (along with mag damage that, yes, may be roughy +5 levels higher), the net effect is around that of a +7.

Joymax said something about this in a Q&A they did - their answer was that it refers to how long a skill takes to be completed, and not about how much damage it does. However, most people like to think that the percentage is multiplied times the damage to get the total damage the skill does. Since no one has completely figured out the damage equation, I don't think anyone can really say for sure.
