I was thinking of 80 bow 80 fire 70 light 70 cold for my bowman, but is it really necessary? How much of a difference would cold make for str builds in general?

Not necessary, you're going to have to drop it at 90 cap anyways.

For pure strs i'd recommend the maximum of the 20% snow shield, help your survivability by tons and you probably won't run out of mp in garms

ill suggest to leave cold at 50 or 60...snow shield after that just drians your MP

Any defensive buff for ice besides snow shield is useless below 60.
