I am lvl 30 pure INT. I have used spear up to now so i did a little more damage with imbue and attacks. I keep fire and light masteries up with my level for a 0 gap. Now that I have nukes I am going to start with my S/S build.

What is the everyones opinion on support mastery? Should I go with spear for the HP bonus or Cold for + defense?

imo; Cold .. No good reason tho' it just seems more helpful..

we are living in 80cap now...but if you want stay with spear..you must go to hybrid!

You don't HAVE to take s/s if you're a pure int, it's just a choice. Yes, s/s has better defense for pure ints.

If you want to go spear you don't HAVE to go hybrid either, just being hybrid helps with survival...

If you're making a pure int s/s I'd go 80 bich, 80 light, 80 cold...but you prolly won't be capped come 90 cap, so best to start with that

90 bicheon, 90 light, 90 cold, 30 fire

I'm making a s/s also (hybrid though for semi-tanking) and I have one question.

Why keep fire only at level 30? It has very, very strong nukes and at the 90 cap it's rumored that there will be another one added (plus those meteors falling from the sky look awesome )

What a load of bs if you ask me, there are no musts in this game.

There are plenty of successful hybrid s/s' as well as pure spears.

I would take cold because it will improve your defence greatly, rather than having just another 1k hp, which you could make up with alchemy

Well, come 90 cap the mastery limit won't be raised and you're going to have to basically drop a tree. You'll want a weapon tree if you wanna do a lot of pvp for the weapon skills(either job or cape), and cold and light hold a lot more benefit for ints than the fire tree...Yes, fire might have strong nukes, but there's not a lot of help for pure ints and/or int builds within the fire tree for 90 cap

Go out pvp with full int spear and you will have no chance of survival. And if he decides to go hybrid int he will not only do it for the 1k extra hp because hybrid spears often use weapon skills. And there might be a few successful hybrid s/s' and pure spears but we all know hybrid spears works a lot better (imo its a great and strong build) and hybrid ss lacks a little in damage but it can tank more though. You are right about the "must" thing. WE can even make a hybrid str blader but it's just not a smart thing to do.

My personal advice:

Option 1: If you take the cold then go pure int SS
Option 2: If you take heuksal then go hybrid int spear
