Bless Spell

Post by nphillip »

a question regarding the cleric skill Bless Spell

if i was a dagger or xbow using dagger desperate or xbow extreme i know that my HP/defence is decreased by 75%. I also know that if i use Bless spell it will make up for some of the missing defence/HP but not entirely.

question:

As i level higher and put more points on the cleric mastery and max bless spell, will the skill not only allow me to retrieve the missing 75% HP/defence after using DD/XE but even more?

I don't know exactly this exactly, but Bless Spell makes huge difference. Mobs hitting like 200 on you hit about 20 on you when you activite Bless Spell.

i'd like to know if the additional defense gets lowered by 75% aswell.
if not then this spell would be GREAT XD.

DD and CE work on everything that adds defense. I am not sure if you can get blessed after using DD or CE and get the full benefits, or if it will be the same as if you used bless spell then used DD or CE. Now with that said, let'd do a simple calculation.

Let's say you have 1000 p.def from your leet set at level 80. And for simplicity let's pretend at level 80, the bless spell adds exactly 1000 p.def (it's around there). Using CE, you would of course lose 40% of 1000+1000, so 40% of 2k is 800, which translates into 1200 p.def left. You don't gain any of the HP you lost, but you managed to increase your p.def by 200 (20%) while increasing your attack by about 80%. So for CE you actually end up with more p. def than you had without CE.

For DD, it's 75% decrease. Taking the same numbers, 75%x 2000 p.def = 1500 p. def decrease, leaving you with 500 p.def. So, ok, you just doubled your defence with using the buff, but you halfed it from your original defence, while again adding 80% more dmg. I would say this translates into uselessness using DD in comparison to CE. Sure you don't get half the HP, and it works pretty well for 1 sneak attack, but after that whether you get hit for half the dmg using CE or double the dmg when you use DD does not matter. However, if you are using CE, you actually increase your defense by 20%, so it is the better choice for a combination with bless spell. Nevertheless bless spell, then DD, then stealth, and closing in within say 20 seconds, and hitting your target, then quickly turning off DD and running is a really good hit and run strategy if you know you cannot kill your enemy using the crossbow skills.

Briefly, I will just say that for m. def it is much different. Let's say you have 600 m. def at lvl 80 and bless spell adds 1400 at that level.
With CE that's still 1200 m def, which is double your defense, so even with the half hp factor, you end up where you started, only 80% stronger.
With DD. with the 500 m. def, you end up having less m. def than you started, but still significantly more than just using DD.... which in the end makes also makes you 80% stronger, and decreases your m. def by less than what a shield would add.

So, bless spell + CE is a great choice against anyone, and with DD it is only a good choice against either really strong opponents you can't kill easily with crossbow, or vs strong INTs.... but you would manhandle those anyway.
