of robes and skills :)

1 SUB MASTERIES

Warrior - If you want to get the benefit of heavy armor, you would have to go for this subclass. However, that being the only advantage I would not recommend going that way.

Rogue - Also a class i would not recommend, your only advantage in using this is the mask skills and the ability to wear light armor. You cannot get any great advantages using this subclass.

Wizard - If damage is all you want, you should go for this subclass. There are quite a few advantages including the amazing nukes which you can fully utilize switching between a debuffer and a damage dealer whenever you want. Delivering a powerful finisher after cursing your enemy is the biggest advantage of this subclass. The 20 second instant defense boost from the Earth Barrier skill makes this subclass quite useful for a weak bodied warlock.

Bard - If you plan on soloing most of the time, this would help you quite a lot. The noise skill will keep you safe from being ganged and if you do get attacked you can always run away pretty fast with the moving march skill. Also, since Bards are also INT based you can completely switch roles and be a Bard whenever you want.

Cleric - Another great subclass for Warlocks. The bless spell helps you safely kill giants even above your own level without worrying too much of dying, especially when used together with Recovery Division while also using Vampire Kiss to attack and replenish HP. The ability to wear light armor makes this subclass one of the best choices for PvP oriented caster. Being INT based as well, switching completely and being the buffer/healer of a party is also possible allowing further flexibility.

2 STAT BUILDS

Being a caster class, my advice is again pure INT or INT hybrid. If you want to pulverize the enemy with massive dot spells and a superior finisher, then go for pure int. However, if you plan on torturing your enemy and slowly sucking the life out of them while delivering a precise finisher just at the right time and surviving the ordeal yourself, then you might want to go hybrid. As long as you can decrease their magical defense, even a hybrid would deal plenty of damage against any enemy. Surviving long enough for your dot spells to take effect is a perfectly valid strategy.

3 WEAPONS
Warlock Rod - The only weapon available to the Warlock class. Not only is it as powerful as a staff, this weapon is also 1-handed, allowing a shield for more defense.

4 CLOTHES
Robes - The only type of armor Warlocks can wear without a secondary mastery. Robes have the best magical defense in the game. The Warlocks have no passives that require robes, so many players choose a mastery that would let them use heavy or light armors for better physical defense.

5 USEFUL SKILLS
Defense Skills
- Reflect level 40 - Reflects a certain amount of the damage done to you back to the enemy with a certain chance of success. The updated version transfers to party members.
- Slumber level 16 - Disables the target for 20 seconds. If you attack the target the effect disappears
- Scream Mask level 24 - Casts a spell around up to 2 party memebers, causing a chance to stun nearby enemies every 5 seconds.
Best Offense Skills

- Blood Flower level 4 - the strongest single attack of the Warlock class 215, usually used as a finisher shot after cursing the enemy with other skills.
- Vampire Touch level 4 - not very strong, but transfers damage into hp, making it a great skill for both PvP and solo play.
- Daze level 16 - stuns the enemy letting your curses affect him before he can attack. Great for PvP or while attacking a giant.
Party Skills

- Besides Reflect, Warlocks offer no party buffs, however their debuffs that reduce damage and defense make them quite useful to have in a party.
Most warlock attack skills do damage over time and there are too many to mention, but they are all useful and combined can be quite troublesome. The fast casting debuffs and dot spells make the Warlocks a great class to play.

6 PARTY ROLE
Warlocks are the debuffers of a party. Their dot, damage over time, spells and debuffs that lower defense and attack make them the perfect partners, especially while fighting monsters with high HP.

EDIT:
other players dont recomend going hybrid with a warlock.
even for extra def and hp, going pure is best imo.

Are debuffs really effective? 'Cause I have them now only 1 (the phyiscal and magical defense debuff) and the difference isn't that much.

And, is a Warlock often welcome in parties? Or is it hard for a Warlock to find a party?

I am currently switching my wizard masterys over to warlock masterys.

as for party play, most people watch the cleric and thier wizards, since they are int and have no hp. thing is there are not many warlocks, so people dont realize we are int based as well, since we dont do party buffs and just do mainly offense skills they think we are str.

debuffs are great but the other person/mob resists alot so you might have to cast, wait, cast, wait, cast and then its on the enemy. what debuffs do, the main phy and magic defense decrease is to allow your party members to hit the monster for more damage. They are a must to have, you just might have to cast it multiple times for it to take effect.

for this build since your are int based, and will be in the mix of the battle, not just on the sidelines, I would suggest getting as much str and hp blues on your gear as possable. that will not only give you hp to "tank" with but you will also gain the benifet of some phy defense which 80% of the mobs in the game are phy based.

debuffs are so helpful when taking down party mobs, giants and other large HP monsters
I always use this combo for giants 'n parties:
blaze
decayed
combat raze
physical raze
wheel bind
medical raze

once their fully de-buffed then I let loose with blood flower and vamp touch

shadow armors good but a pain in the arse with the ammount of agro it causes if other monsters are near

And I never find trouble finding a party - I usually solo a great deal aswell

DoT FTW!!1

I look down upon any hybrid Warlocks... I can easily tank a glaiver my level with proper skill management and 2 glaivers utilizing my cleric sub. Maybe 3 if I don't take a crit. lol Pure int warlocks ftw...

Any full int character with great gear will have 10k hp at cap. Sense all warlock and cleric skills are int based, going hybrid for the hp and defense increase isn't really worth it. imo

It is a lot more like 8k, even with full 5 str on everything when you have shield, and 1str from wings, 1 str from a cap later on, and 2 str from GDF and even 1 str from job item.
But then again the character build applet might lie.

And for any Warlock/Clerics, here is your best bet PvP Strategy:
1. Daze
2. Slumber
3. Debuff
4. Switch to cleric rod
5. Offering

I would most likely use bless spell and healing cycle before I use offering if the opponent has a shield.

Or for just Warlocks:
1. Daze
2. Debuff
3. Bloody Trap
4. Sleep
5. Blood Flower - and this requires timing so you can hit about the same time as bloody trap.

For this one, since I have no warlock and don't really know, you can try sleep then cursing and debuffing, but I think cursing will most probably end the sleep. You can try cursing and sleeping then debuffing and see if that keeps them sleeping. Most important is the timing with bloody trap though. If the skill is like the wizard trap and takes 30 secs to recast, you can use your timer to make keep track of the time it goes off and use flower accordingly.

PS. I got bored of official forums and finally joined.
PSS. Feel free to change anything you don't like.
