i'm currently spear pure int 4x...close to 50...i'm really not sure whether spear is a good choice anymore...
what do you guys think? at the new cap is it better to be s/s pure int than spear pure int.

That would depend on what you plan to do with your character and perhaps what force trees you have.

well, that's the thing with the new update and ice/mana shield has wreaked havoc on my plans. I'm wondering if its a better idea to go with sword shield as a pure int to do better in pvp and jobbing. i dunno i'm feeling very indecisive. I don't want to say one build is better than the other, but with the update it feels like s/s (with new status effect combos) has been made better than spear. It seems like the proper choice is sword and shield...but i really don't know...
i'm having a hard time going places with my build suggest please!

eh i think its easier now for pure int spears to do well . .just because of mana shield .. they pump out the most damage and can tank better now with the shield on ...it just depends how u play i guess and what you think looks cooler ..just go with whatever you want and not necessarily what is better ..that way u'll be happier

Sorry if I overread it but are you already pure int or not? If yes go for it if no stay with spear.

I have never played a pure int. Only a hybrid s/s lvl 52.
The bottom line is in pvp before mana shield pure int spear was very easy to kill. With mana shield it would be twice as hard right?

Of course that goes for s/s with mana shield as well.

at your level, a lot of people want to switch away from their builds, its all too common. you just have to stick with it.

I was in the same position as you. I was pure int spear and was a grinding machine but in pvp i was a joke. This was before mana shield, but i switched and found my grinding did not suffer much and my pvp ability once i had a shield at least doubled. Pure int I think are more of a s/s build

hmm ok and at bryan...i'm pure int.
It not that i'm getting cold feet about my build now..its just that ever since my 40's i've been tyhinking ofswitching. I like spear and sword i think equally which is why its so difficult to decide. Its just that it seems with the update sword has gotten alot better than spear.
it is true that with the mana shield i will get more protection and as spear i will now be able to do more damage on top of being able to take it. but sword has gotten some new kd stabs and a sacrifice of damage for better tanking kd+stab and new status. I just don't know what to do *sigh*

I would definitley recommend going s/s at high lvls. With a shield you block like crazy and they have very good damage. There is also the bonus of having bicheon skills which own. Make sure you go fire imbue.
