Hi i'm new to SRO and i am deciding to make a charcater on here and give the game a very good try.
so far i have been tryng out a few different setups from the start to see what charcater to go for. i want to find a new long term MMO and by Long term i mean atleast 2years +. so far the way this game works it seams to be another long term game to add to my every increasing list of MMO's i play.
I usually play a support role character either a DD or healer but i've played too many healers so i have decided to go Nuker, i am looking to play the game for a good 2 years so i have been around the forums for about 2 weeks finding out about the Farming/Lvling ratio and best way to go if playing long term, i have decided to do this:

Setup:
Go a hybrid 1:2 till lvl 30 then go Full INT (reasons is i would like a bit more hp for that wonderfull pvp action)
Fire,Lightning,Ice - Max Mastery
Force - lvl 30 Mastery
Sword - lvl 30 Mastery

Tactics:
Use Bow at start till lvl 16 sp farming, at lvl 16-30 sp farm with a sword sheild (aiming to get around 80-100k sp), at lvl 30 keep masteries at 3 lvl's behind my lvl and level to 60, at 60 find out how much more sp i need to get those Fire,Ice,Light to max and make sure at 60 i have enought if not sp farm till i do, after i do lvl straight to 80.

Skills:
This i'm a little scetchy on as i dont know them all of by heart yet but here is my general idea.
All nukes to as high as possible
Buff which increase dmg and speed to max
General defence buffs max if possible
Imbue's to lvl 1 for sp farming



Anyone who has some advice for me please please post i'm still trying to work this game out atm, and no flaming plz i'm only gonna read posts that can help me out i'm not going to listen to flames.

O before anyone reply's i am still deciding what server to go on, i'm english and i'd rather be on a server where if i ask a question in chat i'm not going on google trying to find a translator to find out what the guy next to me said , also if any guilds out there are looking for any new recuits i'm open and willing to come join one, but i'm sure most guilds would rather take on ppl lvl 45+. anyway same as before any tips for my character would be so gratefull. thnx

Welcome to our forums even though you have been here for 2 weeks . You have a pretty good idea of what you want to do which is nice. Now, as for server lemme give you the low-down. A lot of high level players and mods are currently on the Xian server which is one of the more crowded server because I believe it was one of the first. Xian is also the most laggy server I believe, even though Joymax is working on fixing that. Troy, my server, is one of the middle servers, it is pretty old but still a nice environment with a number of good and bad people, but you will find those everywhere. If you want the newest server go to Venice, it has a lot less people and the least lag (But it is still bad). The choice is up to you, but the majority of the members of this forum are on those two. BTW, I believe all the server are mostly English, since this is iSRO, but there are still a large number or truely asian players on each server. I know this on Troy for a fact at least.

Lemme give you a couple of ideas of mine. The level 1-16 with a bow sounds good, but switching too a sword/shield might not be that great of an idea because sword is acually the slowest to grind with. So, if you really want to SP farm like no other I would reccomend getting a level 16 SOS bow which will let you farm a lot on Bandits and Bandit archers in the Bandit stronghold.

Your setup, I do not think gonig hybrid will be a good idea. If you are looking to do a LOT of damage go pure INT because this game seems to reward pure characters (Prepares to get flamed by SuicideGirl ). Now, you may be weak at PvP at first but nukers in this game arnt ment to tank at ALL, so later on when you are level 70 you will one hit people, therefore not need to take hits and have a lot of HP. Nukers are also really good in guild wars, so when more comes out with them you will be a big hit. Also, you should choose only 2 imbues. Ex: Sword/Shield (Bicheon), Fire, Light and possible level 17 force in order to res people. Remember, your character can only have a max of 300 masteries, so if you are really looking to go to level 80 you will need to lower your masteries because you cannot fit them all. (The level cap for iSRO is currently 70 right now) Now, if you are looking to be a nuker spear is the best, but if you really want that extra block you can go with sword/shield. Now, a nuker does not need physical skills after level 30, so those will just be a waste once to get to a high level, but they will make leveling to 30 easier.

Before I go more into skills you should go to this site: http://www.nerdwerx.nl/sro/index.php it will tell you how much everything you will need. More on skills, I recommend you go fire/light as your imbues for a nuker. Fire does the most damage and lightning has splash damage. As for your fire skills I say that you should get fire rive force, max the whole series as this will be your major buff. You may want to get the flame shield series, but I am not entirely sure because I have never used sword/shield as a nuker. Do not get the flame body series as it is for physical attack and you will mostly be soley magical. Basic fire protection is a nice skill to have if you are PvPing another nuker and need some protection or just fighting a magical mob ie Yeoha! Get the entire flame-wave arrow series, this is your fire nuke. Do not get flame devil as this is just a buff for physical.

For Lightning, you NEED to get the must-pierce force as this will increase your magical damage. Now, you were looking for a skill that makes you walk faster, so you should indeffinatly get the grass-walk series, but you may want to skip the grass-walk phantom because it is just a pointless little telewarp and doesn't really help. Now, if you can spare the SP you should probably get Concentration and Heavens force as this will increase your parry ratio which can make all the differance.

Now, if you decide to go spear you should at least get your Heuksal mastery to level 10 so you can get cheolsam force which will give you extra hp which you will dearly need. My current method of leveling my soon-to-be nuker is just use the imbue and normal skills while training on green/white mobs and not get any physical skills, that way I can save all my masteries and SP for my nuke skills.

That was me jsut rambling, so it probably doesnt make that much sense. If you wish I can clarify on anything. Good luck with your soon-to-be lvl 70 nuker! Hope I helped you a little bit. To give you some incentive, here is the 9th degree garment set which you will wear when your that level! (Level 76-81)

This is a high level Korean Fire/Light nuker. (They are fighting a level 90 unique mob not yet in iSRO)

You say later on that if i were to go Nuker, Spear would be my best weapon of Choice, i'm ghessing this is due to the 50-100 more rating you get from a spear compared to a sword, if this is so i am thinking maybe to not do any sword skills but get my spear skills to atleast 10 like you suggested but this is still on the table for debate as i'm not very sure and would like to have some advice from any nukers what end game weapon i would most likly use.

How much gold should i be trying to farm to be able to get one of these so i can set myself a target, also any other people that have sp farmed with a Nuker build character and would like to confirm this is the best way for me to go plz shout i dont know much about where and what to sp farm so all the advice i can get is great.

Yer i read SuicideGirl's post about hybrid setup's it was a very good read and i found it a very interesting aspect of the game, i'm not sure if i'm right but that picture of the Korean Fire/Light nuker is a hybrid yes, he/she has almost the same hp as mp not a likly setup for a Full int right ?

By splash dmg do you mean Area Of affect dmg

The skills u suggested are they the only ones i should be concentrating on or there others i can do if i have spare SP?

Another question on the Nuker he has a Hawk i thouht there abilites where only affective if u have a bow active?, He also looks like a Fire,Light,Spear with Ice Build so i'm ghessing thats why he went Hybrid?

Right now I am on a school computer, but when I get home I will finish out your questions because both my current characters are nukers, so I guessI have some experience.

cool cant wait , anyway just an update i have started my new Character "KuukakuShiba" on Troy server atm i am lvlin to lvl 8 and keeping masterys up so at lvl 8 i can start to make my 9 lvl gap for my sp farming grind at lvl 17-30.

Questions:

Can someone elaborate to me what imbue's are, are they the skills that are 6 seconds and add Magical dmg to a weapon or are they the dmg buffs?

Some thoughts on my skills.

as i'm going nuker i'm not sure what lvl to put my imbue's if thats what i'm thinknig they are to atm i have ONLY put on lvl 1 the Fire imbue as it does better dmg and it is very good for my sp farming. i am not putting on anymore skills till i learn more about them accept the lightning dmg buff.

Also on a side note i have decided to do 3 Main Masterys and 2 Sub masterys these are:
Ice Fire Light As Mains
Force Spear As sub

I know alot of you are gonna say dont do Ice but i'm have talked to a few chinese friends of mine and seen a few of them play and i must say alot of there nukers are all 3 Masterys or 2 and have always got Ice mastery, Tbo though i havn't seen a Light/Fire in action, my friends char's were a Light,fire,ice Nuker mage. Fire,Ice,Spear Nuker. and a Hybrid Ice,Force,Sword/sheild Support mage.

Armor.
This is where i am starting to wonder what route to go down, i was thinking of using garments to go farm,lvl,quest and use Armor for PVP, i dont know is it possible to use two different sets, i know u cant mix but i mean as in switch from set to set when needed.

Weapon:
Atm i am going full spear all the way but if ppl can change my mind i'll take of some of my planned Force Mastery lvl's and go sword/Sheild as well.

anyways atm i feeling good about my setup but i'm sure more advice will help me out

imbue will add magical damage (is a must if u want to go full int or hybrid int)
fire imbue => high damage + burn(slowly taking damage, like poison)
light imbue => moderate damage + splash + shock(reduce parry)
ice imbue => low damage + frozen(slow) *i think, kinda forgot lol*

oh yeah u ONLY need ONE IMBUE, cause u can't stack them

as for armor:
from lv1 - lv2x (i kinda forgot) , best to use Armor, cause almost all the mob u fight is doing physical damage
then starting from lv28 u can go watever best suits u, I like protector though

oh yeah about Force skill for Ressurection, there is a Lv limit for u to res on,
so if u only take res lv1, u can only res people with lv2x or below (i forgot ^^;;;)

Hi Lojik, welcome to the forums and the Troy server. If you are interested in a guild with members from thei forum, look up the link in my avartar for a guild. We have a union with two other guilds with members in this forum as well.

Anways, back to the nuker discussion. In my opinion, if you decide to use sword/shield, I think u can afford to go pure int for best damage output. Most of the hybrids I see in game and in Forum: Stallowned, Kasumani, Kurohagane, SuicideGrl ect. all use spears because of the spear skills, the hp passive bonus, and general higher dmg output to compensate the points that they placed in strength. And all their builds do exceptionally well.

For skills, if u go nuker and sword, I advise you to avoid the sword line all together, or u can get it to 20 to get lv 2 in the sword block bonus passive. Blocking is the best asset of any sword nuker or blader and it will help you a lot in pvp ad pve. If you are looking for a combo to link up ur nukes during cooldown, I STRONGLY suggest the lightning skill called Lion shout series. The reason is because they do moderate damage compared to the nukes, around 1k while nukes can hit 2k, but the lion shouts can be linked together and they come out fast, so basically u can link all 3 books together and dish out 3k+ dmg in 1-2 seconds while the nukes would take 1 sec to cast, each. if ur pure int or pure nuker, even as a hybrid I find this skill very useful. Now, if you choose to go spear, then u can drop lion shout as it is more convienient to get some spear skills like soul spear and another spear skill, I forgot the name .

For armor, if you're going hybrid, many players chose to wear protector as it has moderate protection from phyisical attacks and a 10% reduction in mp costs for all skills. I used to use garment, but then after getting easily killed from lag against green-white monsters in the Donwhang area, I switched to protector. Eventually, I will change to Armor as monsters hit hard, and even though higher monsters do magical damage I can always switch in pieces or whoile sets of protector to fight them. There is no reason to stick with only one type of armor, it is best to utlize all types of armor depending on what you are fighting.

Anyways, this are all just my opinions, all final decisions are up to you, I wish you luck in Troy and hope to see you in our recuirtment page soon.

I kinda skimed the post cause it's long as crap... but..

I'd stay with just fire/ice/light and screw all the rest of masteries

at high lvls the low lvl masteries seems like a waste to me... I mean like your running around killing lvl 60 mobs in a party and a member dies... you can't res him with a lvl 30 res... so whats the point of having it??

and if u are worried about hp... you can caste both fire wall and ice wall... that would give you a nice hp buffer before taking damage to ur hp.

I already put some skills in Spear and Force only 5 lvls each, i will see how it all goes but atm i think ill wait till i get more responces on where to put my other mastery's in. update lvl 9 no lvlin to 17 to get my 9 lvl gap then going to sp farm till 30ish. HakuFudomine i will very much like to take you up on the guild offer . anyway back to farming

the best way to sp farm (IMHO):
Lv16 with 9 Lv gap, in Bandit Stronghold, also try to buy SOS bow (if u have enough gold) that will make u killed faster
