building char question

I'm currently building a 2:1 hybrid int spear at lvl 21. But should I use prot/arm/garm? And if I want to can I switch to sword, because it has also high magical attack power. The only thing that bothers me about that is my heuksal skill, which is at lvl 18 ( 3 gap ) and is it worth, to install the sword skill then?
thanks thanks thanks !
, yours

Use either prot/armor, i use prot myself. But you will do fine with garment with the movement speed increase and MP reduction until lvl30 something.
When you decide to switch armor, do it ASAP, don't wait too long because low lvl armor is cheap.
IMO you could use sword as well, but dual weapon builds are a bit gimped with the new 80 skills coming. So stick with 1 weapon. I would advice spear over sword because as hybrid int you already have weaker atk, so you need a spear to compensate your atk loss.

I use protector as well. if this is your first character I would try not switching weapons, but you will find that if you do switch and not like it, making a second character goes twice as fast as the first one. so dont be afraid to try new things. and oh adding another weapon tree will cost sp, are you farming or carrying a gap?

i seriously think a hybrid build is really just a waste of time...

Hybrid isn't for everyone and neither is pure, if everyone had the same build it would be boring. Besides how many who play actually get to cap anyways?
and btw a 3 gap wont keep you your skill point needs, so maybe pick lvl 42 and farm for a bit?? like 20k or something ...

farm some one 42 really helps out
and dont go hybrid cause you gain like 1 k hp in str if you dont have spear
but you loose 6 % mag balance and thats allot

If you think you might like sword over spear then I say give it a try. Wait till you have your nukes though. Once you have nukes all you need to level in the weapon tree would be knockdown, and stab. If you do decide to go sword then get the passive and the castle shield as well.
Oh and if you go sword you should add more int, then you have now.
Remember you can nuke with any weapon even if you don't have any weapon skills.

So you mean I need to farm at level 42?
I think I'd rather keep my spear, - lvl 22 at the moment - and killing chakji's :\ carrying gap of 2 I believe, but I think ima level it until my char lvl, so I gain more exp and then farm sp points later.
Is that maybe a good idea or? It is my second char, last one was a pure str but didn't liked it .. So I chose this hybrid int spear ..
Skills; Heuksal almost all of 'em and leveling skill #5 and #4.
Fire, only the first imbue at lvl 7.
Lightning for grass walk at lvl 3.
And the attack improve skill ( forgot the name )
Cold for Ice Guard at lvl 3
Force at lvl 20 ( I believe ) for resurrect skill.
Currently having 50 Cursed Hearts, so when needed I can delevel a bit I believe ..
suggestions please

I agree that hybrid builds are a waste of time, and most ppl I know that have gone that route end up abandoning the character and starting all oveer with either pure int or str. With that being said, you can't really go wrong with prot. It's a good middle of the road set of gear and with you trying to play the middle of the road with your build, it makes sense. IMO

Ok, right now I've maxed my fire imbue out .. I think ima max all the 3 books out, and wait for the nuke skills .. Meanwhile farm a bit, and add some points in cold, for the wall of ice. Then keep on doing the 2:1 in int and only upgrade weapon skills for the 3-combo and then max that out .. what do you guys think 'bout this?

The 3 books being fire, weapon, ice? How does light figure into your build?

Is light truely a must in a hybrid int spear? Well if so, i could delevel some cold or something and invest in light ..

Yes!
You need the light tree for all the buffs.

oke, can u say which from ligt I need to have and which I need to skip? I use fire for the first imbue and the nuke skill and prolly protector. Force for resurrect, cold for ice guard and ima think i'll skip the rest .. weapon skill upgrading so I can use a good combo with fire/weapon.

Unfortunately you cannot get every tree, yet every tree has its benefits.
Fire has the strongest nukes. It is geared more towards direct combat. It allows you to be immune to status effects(may change with update)
Light offers you nice decently strong nukes and a buff (piercing force) that increases your magic damage. The most important thing about this tree is grasswalk. This tree is geared to agility. Get in, attack get out. Of course with lag and all it doesn't work that great. But it speeds up grinding and you can chase down, or runaway from other people when jobbing.
Ice is the defensive tree. It gives you physical defense that int builds lack, as well as the nicest imbue for grinding. Also the best imbue for pvp, IF your opponent is not immune. However it is the weakest imbue and nukes, so if they are immune you are at a severe disadvantage. Hopefully today the update will come out and Ice will get the mana shield buff, that when maxed will effectively double your hp.
I recommend that you watch some job wars, or some guild wars. Usually they happen outside of dw. Look for globals about them. Get on a horse and watch, you will soon learn the benefit of grasswalk, and a few other skills. Or lack of benefit ie. you will never see an ice nuke , because they are a lot weaker then fire or light.
Since you are not farmed you should only do 2.5-3 trees. Any more and you will either have to farm at higher level or carry a large gap the entire way.
Look in the sticky at the top and you will see many guides, though none of them cover the new skills, since they arent out yet.
