they use the same mastery (heuksal) but glavie has better phy attack, and spear better mag attack, so the fisrt one is for full str, and the spear for full int or hybrids.
and look here
http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=19902 at INT builds u can find spear guides

Thank you, and also, can everybody at a certain level use the same weapons? Another way to put it is, is there a requirement for certain weapons for them to be used? Thanks in advance

the chinese race can equip all the types of weapons of ur lvl and below, and if u dont have skills for them, u always can attack without skills or nuking...
but the new euro race only can equip weapons of their build, because the requirement for use them is a certain mastery lvl

Your masteries (Bicheon, Pacheon, Heuksal) determine what weapon you will do best with. The higher the mastery, the more skills you have access to as well as gaining a 1% damage increase per mastery level.
IE.
Pacheon is lvl 30
Bicheon is lvl 0
When using a bow, you will have a 30% increase in damage, while if you equipped a glaive or blade in the same situation, you would not get a bonus at all.
Note though, that you only get 300 mastery levels. So plan ahead.

That might work until your level 8 or so, but then you will be fighting monsters that require your attacks to have a bit more power. To get more power, you need to raise a specific weapon mastery. Since there are 4 force masteries, and 3 weapon masteries, and a limit of 300 total masteries, you are forced to choose 1 (2 is possible with the current level cap of 80) or when you get above 20, you will have a very hard time killing things.
My advise is to play around until you find the one you like the best and level up your mastery accordingly.

yeah, i didnt really want to use the skills, per se but the weapon itself
Also, if i chose a pure strenth glaive, could i use the same skills for my spear? since they both are in the spear/glaive catagory

Without the skills, as a pure str, you will unfortunately get nowhere. Weapon skills are essential.
Glaive and Spear use the same skill tree, so they are interchangable. But a Glaive has a higher physical attack (meant for STR based players) while the Spear has a higher magical attack (meant for INT based players)

maybe u dont care for the damage at the moment, but u will need skills or soon u will never kill anything :/
so u should chose one weapon and get its mastery, and make a build according to it

or at least choose 2 weapon and go dual, but thats a lot of farming...
