Dual weilding str builds

Post by Drageath »

I really want to make a dual weilding, pure str character. I know I want to use glavie but i'm unsure whether to go bow or blade/shield as my secondary.
It would be great if someone with one of these builds could answer a few questions like how they do in pvp and jobbing. I would really like to know a lot on how they do in pve as i would be spending the majority of my playing time grinding.
Any opinions are very welcome :D

Pure str blade/glaive builds are very strong.

I'm right now dual wield blade/glaive and I love it. It's awesome in pvp.

Glaive/Bow is the best IMO. Get mobs to gather around you with the bow skills like this:
4 multi-arrow one mob
3 multi-arrow another one
2 multi-arrow a third one
and so on, until you have like 6-7 mobs around you.
Then, switch to glaive and use ghost spear skills. Pretty much like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKqCimjzZzM
It's just, that the luring of the mobs is done with bow skills rather then nukes/cold waves/flying dragons.

Glaive/Bow builds are great unique hunters because they can stay away and shoot bow skills from a far, rather then take all the damage from low range.
In PvP, they also do well. You should play like this:
Fire/Ice Wall -> Anti-Devil -> Berzerker Arrow, switch to glaive, Soul Spear -> Ghost spear etc.
You can also ghost walk away and repeat the cicle. It has the advantages of awsome crits and stuns/knockbacks
Overall, the build is great both in PvE and PvP.

But keep in mind, that the 90 cap and the new skills will come. This will make any dual weapon build very ineffective, because of the mastery limit.
Carry your cross, and I'll carry mine.

What do you mean aggro mobs, just walk to them or use flying dragon if you want.

Glaive/blade is better than glaive/bow in PVP. Why do you need a bow? only to shoot from range with firewall and the attack rating lol? Kd/stab and block is ALOT better than that, and the great tanking ability from a shield.

i mean how do u gather mobs for tanking. Do u use the blade ranged skills combined with flying dragon?

I would also be interested in hearing how many more mobs a blader could tank than a glavier or bowman.

well somehow i hear from everybody that tried bow/glaive that it sucks.. dunno why.

And about glaive/blade.. that rulez.. i've fought a guy that had that build. It was a pot-fight. And he was 2 lvl's below me with 3 gap and i had a 5 gap. Else he might have owned me. But like any dual weapon you have to practice your weapon switching, if you ain't got that you will get owned.

Yeah, anyway you can use the light nuke to aggro mobs.

i dont think u should both with a duel wep build soon as 90 cap comes out u will have to delevel one of them wep trees (gonna be waste of time, money,sp) but if u change to single i think bow may turn out to be a awsome build in pvp

You can pin someone down in 1on1 glaive/blade build. Though i'm not sure how this would benefit pure str chars. I've seen spear/sword int heavy hybrids kill a pure str at lvl 80, with fast wpn switching. I recommend just pure str glaive +/- bow just for the blue hawk, you can never have too much ar ;D.

I also plan on getting lightning imbue (so i don't have to farm as much) so it combined with the pacheon range increase buff would look pretty damn funky :D
