Is there really any big diff between sword and spear?

Spear = higher damage, higher HP from the passive
Sword = lower damage, higher defence from the shield, castle shield skill (uber tanker)

yes, pur int spear does greater dmg than pur int sword, but swords has higher def due to shield.

spears do more damage while s/s u can tank more

ull want s/s becuase str will one hit u

But he's true... under MOST circumstances, a Pure INT at the current cap won't be able to kill a Pure STR...
But once you wait until the 90 Cap comes out, along with the Mana Shield...

Spear has a higher magical attack, and as such, you do more damage with magic-based attacks, such as your nukes.
However, by using a Spear, you're sacrificing the extra defense that the Shield, when you use a S/S adds, as well as the block. Keep in mind that a block in an intense PvP fight could make all the difference between lying on the floor dead, and not.

My opinion is, max out the Bicheon Tree, but use a Spear for grinding - you'll be using your nukes anyways, so it doesn't matter.
When it comes to PvP, switch to a S/S, for the shield, and KD's.

And it's not just me. Most experienced players will recommend that as well.

Go S/S Pure int. Even if pure int spear deals some serious damage, It's still not enough to kill someone before they kill you especially str based chars. Even with alchemy you'll be the most fragile.

s/s for life!! I think i can tank a lot with castle shield at str chars for 15 seconds. And in those 15sec can kill them even im not nuker yet. And i have more stronger mele hits with my imbue than every str char. So bull to str chars its only for surviving, but if you want adventure go int s/s
btw kd+stab is realy good you can get full hp ^^

Go s/s, because a spear is overkill. I do tons of damage and can kill people before they even reach me. It's the block and less dmg I take that allows me to last a long time in duels whereas a spear will be taking non-stop dmg. Your HP will drop faster than the extra dmg you can dish out using a spear.

sheild has more def, but spear hits higher i think, but int = nukes. so be either, both own.

so do you mean like dont have any heuksal skills but use spear for grinding?

just use the nukes and shouts for PvE with a high damage spear, faster grinding
