I have read a lot of threads lately and a lot of them indicate that the best bowmen are Pure STR but I don't understand why.
On all the weapons, the magical aspect is much higher so it would seem that adding points in INT would make more sense since it increases your MP and you will be keeping some sort of imbue or special running.
So, the bottom line question is What makes STR > INT when using a bow? Assume that all equipment and other aspects are the same and the only difference is STR/INT.
For the record, I have been currently allocating my points 1:2 (STR:INT)

they say bow is str because the first skill raises crit by a lot (crit only doubles the phy dmg) and bow does not have an hp passive or shield
but
bow has the magic attack of a sword and the phy attack of a blade which would make it a hybrid weapon and bow whose advantage is range should not be the one tanking in a fight imo

You need tons of hp to tank. Hardly anyone can kill each other at 90 cap, hybrid or not. You'll need that hp for castle sieges and things like that. A 1:1 or an int heavy bow isn't surviving 4 or 5 glaive users hitting them.
Each new book of anti devil increases the chances you will get a critical. Even the new books not implemented yet do.
Most people go hybrid bow because they don't want to have to depend on criticals to win. The new books anti devil increase your critical changes so its obvious Joymax does want you to depend on criticals. Pure str or a heavy str hybrid is the only way to go....if you plan to be here until the 90 cap.
