What effects does it work against, and how does it work? Shorter durations? Less chance of suffering them?

it works against any status ailment, and it reduces the effect by a given amount. which is noted somewhere when you highlight it

im guessing that if you have been poisoned and you dont have a pill then you put on the spell and the sickness leaves your body at a faster rate, thus losing less hp.

So in PVP against the eight million ice/bow users, you're just going to let them freeze you and then lose?

Can you even use them while frozen solid? Don't you just get re-frozen again half a second later by the next attack in the flurry?

Mind you, my chances of actually participating in trader/thief/hunter PvP are waning rapidly as I get into the teen levels and the amount of grinding required to reach twenty becomes apparent. Still, I don't want to waste two weeks experimenting to discover something ten minutes of research can find.

Whether you use pills or this skill, you'd still get frozen a second later from the next ice attack. The differences is, pills remove the effect immediately, so you're not just standing there waiting for your doom.
