Attack Rating Buff

Hullo!

So, I'm level 64 and got bored of being a blader.....so....I leveld bow up to 54. (The real reason was that I wanted to be someone with teh blue hawk)

So anyway....

I tested the buff on a friend, using teh same attack 10 times with and 10 times without. One average, I did about 3800 damage without the buff, and 3650 with the buff.

Then I tried it out on mangyangs, without gear, without weapons, with and without buff. Without the buff, I averaged 128 damage (shock shout), and with buff I averaged 106 damage (shock shout). This was for 30 trials.

So, I'm just curious....what's the point of the buff if it reduces my damage? Or rather, what is it exactly SUPPOSED to do? What is AR? I mean, I know it's attack rating, and that it's a waste of elements, blah blah blah....but when it says it makes you do more damage, or rather high in your range, does it mean reduces the standard deviation/range? or does it mean increase the average?

Dont use magical attacks, and test it out again.

AR & parry seems to be bugged, if not then they both arn't doing their job atm

hmm weird... think i would have to guess bug too.. cause this just s.ucks...
i always thought it makes your dmg be on the high end too.. so basicly increase your dmg. And certainly not decrease..lol.. what good is a skill that decreases your dmg..i kind of feel bad for all the archers out there..

Sooo...I tested it out again with KD. The damage was overall...again....decreased. 3300 --> 3160 (average, 20 moves, on target friend). >.<

So, it's not just mag moves, but also physical for me.

I tested it out with mag initially since magic seems to have more consistent damage.

But....I feel sorry for a few players I see who are high level...and brought the blue hawk up,..meaning bow to 54.....to have a little advantage....(COUGH ME COUGH)

Sorry, didn't see these. I chose lion shout initially cuz it was the fastest, that is correct. In addition...I'm cheap...I didn't want to use too many pots...>.<

But, I tested it out again with KD (second book, level 8 I think)...same results. I also increased the number of trials from 10 to 20, and found the same results.

Anyway.....Parry I know works correctly becuase I had force to 49 until last night...

but...yeah, it consistetnly lead to higher damage (on average) and it was significant, but only on players, not on mangyangs. On mangyangs, it didn't seem to have an effect. I use it on giants to help with damage, and it's significant to teh point that since I'm relatively low level, if someone is a thief/hunter attacking union hunter/theif, I use alt + the parry reduce. I don't really get involvedi in the fight, but I help (a lot).

I would say it's extremly useful for uniques, except it's not really. it means that everyone does higher damage, not just you.

but yeah....parry works. I don't think AR works right. But, I was curious, is everyone's experience with it the same? MAybe it only works right for bow....I'll test that later....I have devil bow at book 3. hm...indeed. I shall test!

I'll keep that in mind. However, I feel I have better grammar/spelling abilities than most people who use these forums

I think it's becuase you're bow....but I'll test that out...

it works for me too.. i'm a blader with lvl8 hawk (book 1)



and i think Hawk Buffs doesnt work with nukes and lion shout.. it maxes phy damage..

I did a little experimenting with my 2-arrow combo. With a buff of +13 AR, I did 2.5 more points of damage each hit than with no buff. So if AR does work, 13 points of AR is fairly negligible.
