Simple Lightning Question

I never bothered to raise the basic lightning weapon skill cuz I got the fire and ice ones but I've been considering it now that I have the electric nuke. It seems like the electric nuke only drops about 20% in damage every time it transfers to a nearby monster and I can kill 3 monsters at once easily with it, which saves time on that stupid alcohol quest at lvl 35-36. But does the weapon attack one transfer that strongly too? I thought I remembered seeing someone attack a monster with it for like 1000 and the one next to it only got hit for like 100.
Also, I know if I use the cold weapon skill and electric nuke someone, it does more damage and can freeze them. So if I lightning nuke with the electric weapon skill active, would it still only transfer 3 times, or 5 times, or the theoretical maximum of 9 times total (all 3 lightning nuke hits transfer 2 times from the weapon skill)?
I assume someone must have tried this at some point and knows

I tried this a long time ago...I'll try to recollect my memories

I'm pretty sure the imbue damage stays on all the lightning nuke transfers, and the lightning imbue transfer will transfer for all 3 monsters if they are close together enough. That would be 9 times according to your analysis.

And i thought the damage was -35% for each additional monster=x
