At higher levels, which is better?
(both STR) Fire Glaive or Fire Blade?

At 60, Fire/Glavie
At 70, Fire/Blade.

Depends on the end build/equipments.
but lets just say they're bolth decked out with all sosun gear and all +5 ~no str on int bonuses~
and they bolth have pure str builds and pure glavie/blade skills.
I'd put my money on the glavie since it's has about 2-3k more health and deals out masive damage.
But in a real world it'll all depend on the equips, player, and end build.

If they both are pure strengh with comparable equipment they would have similar HP...
The glaive has a higher damage, yes, but the sworder has the advantage of both defense and the ability to utterly block an attack. Nothing is worse than using your big hitting skill on a sworder to see it get bounced off defiantly by that stubborn piece of wood on his left hand.

Well If the blade goes pure blade and doesn't mix he wont get the hp boost like the glavie would and thats about a 2k boost 60+

It depends a lot on what happens in mid battle..
What if the flying dragon or the stunning soul spear gets blocked?
What if the souls spear crits and/or stuns the blader?
There are many factors that apply here but if i had to choose i would choose the glave, due to its extra health and extra damage.

what about Fire Glaive vs Ice Blade?
I know that Fire Blade usually has the upper hand over Ice Blade now, especially with Auto-Pills for the cold

ice blade.. block factor and usually the ice will frostbite \freeze too many times around .25 sec everytime.. and it stops attacks

It all comes down to that shield.

no one will win....it will be a tie. Alot of builds nowadays lvl 60+ are beginning to be even duels in 1vs1.

I can 1vs1 a blader around my lvl and no one will win im pure int. But thats probally because my mastery is at 51 im lvl 58. But i can tank all his attacks for a good 10-20 minutes.

thats true, it could end up in a tie. For example, in venice (i forgot where) there was a theif and a hunter fighting each other for a good 10 minutes and it ended up both of them calling a truce

If all things were equal. My bet is on the glaive. The more damage you can do in 1 hit the better, because of the way potions work. Although in reality there are too many variables to tell for certain.

Rofl, int isn't everything. It can be killed verry easily, and if you're snow from xian didn't you get banned for botting XD?! And if you did you're the epitome of nub

It's true the Glaive user can pump out more damage, but with blocks and the higher defense i'd think the blader negates that advantage?

yup, snow you're infamous.
as to the post.
i wouldn't bet on either... i think it depends on skills, items... and a lot of other factors besides what weapon they're using

a good shield blocks like 1/3 of hits from what I heard, so around 33% damage subtraction to the opponent. Also blades have a faster attack even if they have less damage O.o? but i guess it is based on luck

It would be a draw. It's either the glaive gets a crit/stun or the blade gets a knock down and some hits in.

If the sworder is smart he will Kd as the openent uses long-charge attacks (Soul Spear anyone?) and interrupt thier most lethal moves, and send them flying through the air. Trust me when I say that being interrupted in PvP is not fun... Having played GW for a long time, there is nothing more frustrating then playing an Elementlist, Necromancer, Monk or Mesmer and getting nailed by a Choking Gass + Favorable Winds + Tiger's Fury Ranger... Zomg in like 5 seconds you have daze (iterrupts all spells when hit by an enemy) and are getting arrows crammed down your throat too fast to do anything useful.

glavie WOULD have more health than the blade.
because of the passives it gives it an extra boost in HP.
a critical from the glavie player and the blade is dead.
but blade would have blocking power.
i would say that if both were to fight 100 battles. the turnout would be probably a 1:1 ratio.
also, it depends on the person behind the keyboard. people play who differnt tatics. whoever pulls out the best combo and the most effective one will have the advantage.

I have gone 1v1 Glaive v Blader Fire v Fire and Fire v Cold and all I have to say is...
BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit BLOCK hit BLOCK hit hit BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK hit
If you are fotunate to get (2) consecuitive hits both for Crits the Glaiver might win......The Blader would win IMO wihtout pots btu wiht pots you basically need 2v1 from what I have seen.
BTW, most Fire Bladers I have seen have the life buff to at least 30 and alot to 60 due to botting.

You dont need to bot to get Cheolsam Force to rank 6, you just need to leave an adequate masery gap and only specialize in 2-3 trees.

Yeah it really would depend more on the players themselves. And whether or not auto pot is allowed.
Because even though the blader can block the attacks, if the glaivesman starts with soul spear, and launches into his combo and finishes with ghost, there's a chance he might win. He could pull off higher dmg attacks in the same amount of time a blader would pull of medium dmg attacks with his combos.
The equalizer would be if the blader used cold arrest, or frost nova, and if there were no pills allowed.
I've dueled (lvl 26) against an ice blader, and lost bcuz we didn't use pills. On the rematch though, we used pills and she died in 5 seconds.
So really circumstantial (basically repeating what everyone has been saying -.-)
