High level nuker: Protector vs Garment

Should a high level nuker wear protector or garment as their 8th degree set?

With protector, I'm assuming that the nuker can still survive at least one nuke from another nuker and still be able to have a bit more physical defence against those pure STR.

With garment, obviously you'll have more magical defense but will be extremely fragile against pure STR.

I understand that pure STR will always do a lot of damage against a pure INT, but every little bit of defense will help, especially if it gives you time to grasswalk away and heal.

My question for those high level nukers:

Do you guys prefer to wear garment or protector as 8th degree?

Protector i would say. But armor would be better in pvp.

Whenever to wear garment is up to you, it's good versus magical mobs in pve.

I don't really cape battle, but I do participate in jobs and guild wars A LOT.

Since guild wars and jobs have a mixture of both INTs and STRs (most of the time), protector would be a good choice?

I see a lot of nukers running around Hotan with garment on, thats why I'm a bit confused to which I should wear.

Depends, If your a S/s I would say either is fine. If your a spear go pro. I my self am a spear hybrid. I went from using garm to pro for the simple fact that glaivers could kill me. Also most high level nukers farmed at nachals, so in garms its better. But I stick with my first statement.

I'd say that garment is probably the best choice for S/S. The main reason is that you should be able to survive a glaiver fairly easily, especially if you use kd and the castleshield series. The castleshield and kd works great against archers too. The reason to choose garment is mainly against other sword ints, of which the number is approaching that of the glaviers. Against a pure int with trip stabs, the choice of garment is an important one. Sure, you could survive a nuke from one in protector. But a nuke + kd and trip stab would surely hurt. With garment, I find it much easier to survive, and at times I still die [full +5 garment set and 7.1k hp] I tried a prot +5 set that gave me 6.9k hp and I found myself loosing far more against pure int. Against glaivers, it just helped me pot out a crit a lot easier.

As a spear int though, protector would probably be the better idea to stand up to glaiviers. You could then use the fan series against pure int.

if u use blade/the another one, protector, if u use sword/spear, armour

if you use bow, you are crazy, but if u do, armour

garment is only if u have high HP or u can asume tons of expensive HP pots

Well I am going INT Hybrid so I'm going Protector for several purposes.

I can tank a little from my extra HP and DEF from protector, and I can tank Nukers for sure with my HP and a little from protector. And unlike armor, I get a little more help from protector, and a little less than garments.

i am going to be a int sword. and i got some advice from someone who has had experience of being int sword:

wearing armor will make you go poor because you will use too much mp pots.
garm is better for when/if you farm at yachels in the cave and lower lvls.
protector still saves 10% on mp and you still get some defence. plus the shield gives you added defence.

so i am going to wear protector, as he did as well.

you could always have a protector set and garm set
