i currently have a spear pure/hybrid int at lvl 29. i'm thinking about making a second character on the same account just for fun, and i want to go pure str. i don't want to use glavie though, because i want to try a new skill tree just for fun. so i'm stuck between bow or blade, and i know there are pros and cons for each, so here's a list off the top of my head.

BLADE

pros:
knockdown/stab
shield's block is very useful
fire shield helps with status effects
chains look cool
most of the blades at each degree look pretty awesome, especially the last one
works well with a wolf

cons:
rumored to have slow leveling rates
frequently ksed
have to buy both blade and shield

BOW

pros:
long distance
use less pots
high crits
super awesome hawks
rarely ksed
useful for farming
i can finally figure out what that huge bright electric sparkle on the bow is

cons:
hard to play with (supposedly)
best skill comes only at lvl 69 (devil arrow)
need supply of arrows
most of the bows look pretty crappy, with the exception of the last one, which is beautiful


you guys can add to the list if you want, and an opinion would be very much appreciated, especially from experts on these two weapons. =)

The sparkly thing is demon soul arrow which increases the range.

if u want to go blader... make sure u can get gold tickets. coz its hard to train being a blader. too many sp needed.

true de best skills such as kd need tons of sp so bow ftw !!

i <3 blade. yes it takes a crap load of SP but they are fun to play and worth it imo.

haha sp farming sucks, i prefer to be higher lvls and then farm =D anyways i have 200 sp, but... lol, more than 1k?? never haha

i am a pure str blader lvl 43 never used one ticket in my whole time. if you do deciede to go blader use all the qust you can find. THERE REALLY HELPFULL

Im a 41 blader and sure I take in what pepl say about whats good and bad slow or quick but man who cares play how u want and this is quite biased but be a blade. Its sure fun. That frequently ksed thing isnt that true either. KDKDKD thats all i hafta say. Specially once u get the 2nd stab, u flip over the mob an jab jab while ur would be kser just stands there feeling bad about himself XD. Now noone says you have to buy a shield lol. If u dont wnat to buy an extra piece of equipment just use the sword go out and get pummeled . But yes, bicheon sucks sp like a tapeworm. seeing as every skill is useful cept the shield block stance. I've had a 5 lvl gap since bout 34 just to keep it and lightning up to date with occasional force updates (yes I'm a healer, and i did most of this before i saw the guide on a healer setup on the forums too :p). Neway bicheon won't dissapoint hehe so go ahead try it have fun. oo + that lovely shield has saved me from 62+ npc thief archers twice

and ull never c me ( _Tripleh247_ ) on alps runing around asking to buy arows even no im an archer

take blade. with more than 20%block and 50% kd, a very high def, and a crit resist, you won t die. blader is also the char who can get the higher amount of str, due to shield.

if u use bow you ll may lvl a bit faster, but in pvp/jobs/war you r going to get a pretty good amount of death.

an other strategy ( if you are up to spend silks ) be a bow user to lvl up and gain sps then buy a lot of skill reloc and switch from bow user to blade user.

You guys are so... narrow minded. Telling him not to go bow because it will lose him guildwars? HAH!!! If the character was built properly that would be quite the oposite, if you played it right as well.

As you said they both have their pro's and cons.. you can't really say one is better or worse, as they are 2 completely different things.

just get the one that suits you more .

Bow has range, blade has very little. Bow does huge amounts of damage, blade does not. Archers have basically no defence, Bladers have the most defence out of any build.

It's your call because you'll be playing it.
