i think, the main reason might be because blade is usually str based. that means they'll focus more on weapon mastery... then perhaps that means not a lot of room for elemental skills.

but, that said... i do know people still use grasswalk and such for the bonuses from lightening series

They mix.. it would be better for an INT char because light has magical buffs

BUT a str ice blader is also a fine character..light for grasswalk

From what I heard, ice and blade DON'T mix. I think it is pretty effective, bit fire/sword would be better.

BUT.....

It is still good to experiment right, so your saying that fire and lightning is good with blade right not ice and lightning....

Its not that they dont mix, its just two different builds. An ice blade makes a better "tank" and can take more hits, combining the defense bonus along with frostbite makes a very sturdy tank. The most popular reason for this build is if you have a parter to duo with (usually with force skills).
As for the blade/fire.... this build is based on DPS (damage per second) for moderate damage and still able to tank things down. Definately a better build for PvP and quicker PvE kills. .... They are just two different builds made for two different purposes ^_^
