issues with raising money and upgrading weapons

i am level 16 and i have level 8 weapons and garment. i can't upgrade (buy) them they're like 17000 and i only have like 4000 when i finish a quest. then in order to do another quest i need me recovery herbs/potions and arrows and horses and i find myself with no money left.

how would i go about raising more money?

one more thing... with the stalls, i never seem to be able to buy/sell anything with them. i wait and wait but nothing happens

wow, i dont know what to say. I dont want to say your spending your money carelessly because i dont know that. My suggestion is to sell the stuff you pick up. Try doing some grinds. I get a lot of gold doing grinds. I made 1.8mil this wknd doing grind, i dont know if thats a lot but thats what i came up with. I also came up with 3k skill points (9lvl gap) at your same lvl.

Whats your build? Whats your str, int points and etc.

i should mention that i'm new to gaming in general and to silkroad in particular. what's grinding? what do you mean by what's my build?

str/int 62/57 i don't really know what i'm doing when adding stat points so i figured i tried to even thme out

Ok, not to be mean but that'll explain why your broke. Your a total newb. HmMmm, you want more gold? Save your gold and i think your over using your potions. Try sitting to save some potions (press N to sit, you gain back HP/MP faster). Selling your items will get you gold, try leaving your stall open for about an hour or two. Grinding is basicly killing basicly killing monsters. Build is the character you are building and obviously you dont know what your building so nevermind.

And why are you at the Characters and Skill section? Go post in the question sections. You'll get more responses.

edit: also, is my character utterly farked now, as i don't know what and how i'm building it? is there anything i can do about it? general pointers would be swell

Personally, I would start over. This character was your learning experience, most of us have one, I had 3.

First pick a build (like pure Str glaive, or pure int spear, etc.).

Next find out how many skill points you will need. Lets just say 100k to start (varies by build, but that's a fairly standard number).

Now you need to plan your character. What kind of gear, when/where you will farm (or have a mastery gap).

Next you will start grinding (killing monsters).

If you don't understand some of the terms bineg used lok in the frequently asked questions section at the sticky. There are alot of guides in this section as well listed in the sticky.

For now I would start something fairly basic like a pure int nuker. They level fast.

Did you click the "open/modify" button? That could be your problem or your prices are too high.

The other thing I don't understand about your only 4000 gold is thta some of the quest reward you with a lot more gold than that.

Lastly, you came to the right place; go read some of the “sticky(s)” in the Character/Skill fora.

Well being that your not lvl20+ to do trade runs chances are (except me of course

) that your gonna be broke...so guess what? kill some black tigers! cause at your lvl i was able to defeat them veeerry easily. So while your killing black tigers you will find these things called tablets pick em up...they sell for eh....1.5k each(i think it may be alittle higher) and trust me....you wll make atleast 30k in like 25mins (dont forget armour and wep drops and money drops) now tablets can also be used for alchemy but so far ive been to lazy to use lvl3 to get all the elements for them. So thats a way to make sem cash (also if you cant kill black tigers then restart your character....)

pick up everything, sell everything u dont neeed. dont upgrade ur armor etc. until later, save up.

buy low when u see and sell high (weapons only-sos perfer) ...but u gotta be patient for the price u want.

welcome to the forum. now that your here I would suggest reading the stickies and posts that sound like they may help you. this is a VERY good place to learn. I'm here almost every day and I learn something new each time. when you stall,after you put all your unwanted gear in do you remember to hit the OPEN STALL button? I've left mine open(well not really open) all night a few times like that.people can see what you have but can't buy it.buy all your gear from a stall, never a NPC.get the best weapon you can afford.at lvl 16 you should be sp farming.keep a 9lvl gap between your character lvl and highest skill lvl,(sword,fire,etc..) I can't tell you everything you need to know,(I don't know that myself) but this forum will give you all the info you will need to play the game succesfully and have fun doing it.hope this helps.
