I am right now a lv 25 pure int spear fire and light. my masteries are at lv 19 and im not sure either to continue pure int spear or go pure int sword. i need some advice and not those personal preference crap. just tell me which you would perfer and if you could, why?

i would prefer sword, becuase of the block and extra def, also the kd and stab rocks. yes spear may have more hp and more damage but it all depends on the gear/ buffs.

pick sword if you want the def, and wanna kd them to hell

Funny, I was just having the same "problem", but I figured I'd go with sword. UNTILL I saw at the spear skills, all the way at the bottom, had some HP increase thingy. That's exactly what me, being a pure Int, needs. On the other hand, if you use a sword and shield, you will gain less damage and sometimes even none.

I heard of some double-stab technique for sword, too? At lvl 70 or so?
It should be very powerful.
But another question you nor me can answer is: Will I ever get to lvl 70? Since Silkroad is quite boring... takes so long to level...

voted spear becuase it does more dmg, the spear passive is really nice becuase it give u lots more hp, (which is awesome for a nuker). also i hate sp farming, so i had to choose 1 weapon mastery to lvl and i chose spear, and im really liking it.

most people say swordies rock for pvp because of the shiled, but thats just a matter of luck... wouldnt you rather do more damage?

another thing, spears have lots more range than swords, which is great for pvp since u can stand back and nuke your opponent, usually before he gets a hit off of you if ur nukes are strong. if not, u can nuke him, then use the ghost petal spear. i think its called S.S or something (?) i just call it switching from nuke to physical... usually that will do the trick.

Its true, spear is good. But for a fully farmed and pure int.. sword is probably better. Double stab ftw! That thing is a killer in pvp, plus shield gives you the crit prevention for fighting pure strs. If you dont care about farming but want to be really good at pvp at lvl 70, go sword.
For a spear nuker u want to mainly nuke then sometimes use S.S.S. (Soul Spear Soul) and GSM (Ghost Spear Mars).

Last few weeks I've been experimenting with a nuker and I like both sword + shield and spear, but the spear does obviously more damage. How does the nuke damage compare at higher levels (sword + shield versus spear)? I'd say that a spear does far more nuke damage than a sword + shield? I've been trying some with Lion Shout at level 17/18 and I already noticed that the spear does about 10 - 15% more damage than a sword + shield. That is quite a lot when translate that to doing 20k damage for example.

well of course. You get more offense with a spear as opposed to a sword, but u get less defence. But u also get the special moves of sword and spear when you choose a certain mastery. But when you choose sword u get chance of block and u get extra defence. When you are pure int and spear, you die quite fast, and a pure str crit is deadly. Sure you can do a ton of dmg, but sometimes u cant stay around long enough to do that much dmg. If you are comparing s/s and spear, look at how much more dmg difference when you use spear, (as a %age, e.g. sword does 75% dmg of spear), then look at the dmg the mobs do to u (e.g. they do 25% more when you use spear). You have to take offense and defense into the equation when you try to see which one is better. Spear is probably better for doing more damage and killing monsters fast, but there are pros and cons about both.
