Weapon Requirements for INT Nukers?

Post by ginny »

When raising up a nuker, is it necessary to spend a lot of points on Sword or Spear?

a. Some say keep the weapon mastery max and max ghost and soul for spear and KD and stab for sword.

b. Others say that these are wasted points because magical damage is the focus and anything physical related is unnecessary.

Which is the general consensus?

Can you get away with a lot less? I am trying to conserve SP as I level and want to know what viable options there are.

hi im a lvl 70 nuker... i have 60 heuksal JUST for passive.. i use a sword+shield to train and pvp.... I'm glad i didnt get KD or stun or anything... Mag attack is strong enough alone....althought im more of a war person , not pvp person.... but if u are going to get kd or heuksal skills, wait till ur a high lvl - they are kinda useless at a low lvl for a pure int

Even though you did not take any skills, what is your mastery in Sword?

IMO a nuker that relies only on his nukes is a waste of a build. You're a sitting duck.

S/S = KD & Stab - Time to pot and get mutiple crits while the enemy can't att

Spear = Stun & Knockback - Time to pot and renders your opponent useless for a limited time.

In PvP definately! But what about PvE? Could a nuker effectively level up just using a weapon (sword or spear) without ANY points in the weapon tree? No mastery, no skills.

In PvE it would be perfectly possible to level without using the weapon skills. But this is game is so much more then just PvE.
God is unavailable right now. Can I help you?

ROFL. This game IS TOO so much more than PvP! Trade running, hunting, thieving, cape fights, & PKing (not so great) are all PvP fights! A lot of this game is based on those 5 things too.

Only a noob would say that you don't need weapon skills at low lvls. first of all, you need weapon skills to train with till you can get nukes, unless you are going to shocklion shout the **** out of everything. I'm a spear nuker, i spfarmed a little and maintain a 3-4 gap with weapon skills. for example training.

nuke > shocklion shout
nuke > ghostpetal (while shocklion recharges)
nuke > dragonflow shocklion (champion mob doesn't even reach you)
dragonflow > soul spear
dragonflow > ghostpetal
soul spear > ghostpetal

having weapon skills helps on jobs too especially hunting (guarding against multistar thief spawns) this way you have multiple aoes: shocklion shout, your light nuke, ghostpetal and dragon flow. i can't count how many times a ghostpetal saves me when i'm mobbed my 3-5 thieves or mobs.

weapon skills also add a larger varience to your game play making grinding more enjoyable and weaponskills cost less that nukes so it can cut back on mp where you might use nuke > nuke vs nuke > weaponskill

in pvp nuker vs nuker (especially with lots of nukers wearing garment) weapon skills come in handy cause the nukers have such high magical defense, you can surprise them with a kd stab or sss which will have an advantage due to their low physical defense.

Perhaps so, but I have tried this without any* weapon skills and in the mid twenties I am having no difficulties leveling very rapidly. Imbue+Lion Shock+Spear (No skill) kills things very fast and does very good damage.

I am trying to save some SP and level with 0 gap, so experimenting without weapon skills has been helpful.

I did level spear up to my mastery to test if there would be any difference in damage. It was non-existent so I leveled it back down. It seems that only the skills help with the imbue, but I have not needed them so far.

Ghost and Soul are so slow, by the way. I have been testing them on another character. I wish there were some fast weapon skills without the delay: one delays early (before attack), one delays late (after attack). But still quite slow.

This is a good point. But I do not think I will be doing to much PvP'ing until high levels and by then I will be putting skills in place to help with PvP'ing... I just do not think PvP is that great before your skills are in place and you have money for good equipment.

Unless you are playing a class that is far more hardy, early nuker PvP'ing is a little dull... again, my opinion and from watching friends a bit higher.

So I will keep grinding out PvE until I get to the point that I have PvP skills, decent equipment, and a solid guild around me.

that's what i said!

don't be afraid to get the first level in each skill, it's only a very very small amount of sp. you'll get the skills later on anyway.

i find the 3 chain can often kill after a nuke before the monster attacks if it is a slow attacker and it does more damage than soul/ghost. the total casting time, from beginning to end, is probably the same for those 3 skills but at least with chain the char is flashier, more entertaining. these chains are solely for pve...

the spear throw comes at 31 and 58, those are great too but take awhile to recharge so you'll need another killing combo. increasing the skill level is not necessary because nukers are not phy damage based. the only reason to level those skills is to increase the status effect or have more of the same skills to use (book 1 and book 2).

imo, the spear throws are the best finishers (about 1/2 nuke damage) for it's range, speed, and lack of delays

I took the following Bicheon Skills (Sword/Shield) to test:

Illusion Chain 1
So far, this is useless! Any comments on this skill being helpful?

Soul Cut 1
Nice ranged attack that does the same damage as Shout for less MP.

Blood Blade 1
Stab Knockdowned Mobs

Flower Bloom 1
Knockdown

Shield Protect 1
% increase to shield block. Love this...I live for the BLOCK message.

Any other useful skills? And do these need more points in them to be useful at high levels? Sword Dance, Castle Shield, Smashing?

What kind of investment needs to be made to this tree to make it nice for nukers?
