They both work the same but which is better? Is one better for STR and one better for INT?

What good skills do they have, any neat hit combos?

From what i've noticed most people on xian are using blades, only saw a few using swords... so yeah I think blade is good.

Thanks, I'm thinking about making a blade character when it comes back on, does your clothing choice really make that much of a difference like armour, garments etc or is it more to do with the stats of what your wearing. I want some good protection from damage but I don't like how armours look, I like wearing the garments.

What magic seems common for blades?

Thanks again :)

Armor = high defense thus good against melee attacks and leveling

Garment = high mdef thus good for pvp since most people uses magic

Protector = it's in the middle of armor and garment... you know what im talking about :P

As for what magic goes well with blades/swords, i'd say ice. Tho alot of people uses different types of magic for different situations. I prefer thunder as a magic.

it makes a lot of diffrence because i myself am a garment char
armors are much stonger, less damage on you but ur slower because of weight obviously

but garment is weaker but it has high magical defence rate and it is faster. i chose it becuase firstly i liked the way it looked, second it is still strong enough to fight monsters at ur lv. although armor might allow you to fight monsters that might be above ur lv.

also protector is just between both of them.

Although there is more to it than just this.

Swords have a better magic atk than blades. So if you're more of an int build you should go for sword. If you're a str build, then its the other way around.

I wear protector. With a hint of armor.

If I can get gloves or shoulders that have higher numbers than the protector I have? Why not

Be dumb not to buy it if the stats on both phys and mag are better than what I got

At least your allowed to mix protector/armor

You cant mix anything with garment. So its harder to find what you need.

blade is for str build and sword for int build (ofcourse u already knew that)
armor. very nice to lvl since ur a blade/sword user u got a shield to go along with.. so shield + armor = lvling no need hp pots.. (well alot less than garments) and it allow u to tank 3-5 mobs at a time .. could be more if higher lvls..
garment high mag defense..(but since at low lvl most mobs uses melee attks so...) and also it reduces the amount of mana used,and u can move faster... :)

i'm a word user myself i used armor from lvl 1-28 .. then i switched to garment for earth taoist and gunpowder quests.. (they uses magic attks)
and i switched back to armor for scorpion and flower mobs

In regard to the force i see alot of fire users with the sword/blades

pretty sure that the first skill at lvl 10 is soemthing to do with increasing your shields probability of blocking or something along those lines.

Sword is the only weapon I havent tried as of yet. im thinking of going back to spear because i have not heard all too much about the benifit of archer.

So hard to get a straight answer out of people. Especially when its totally based on opinions.

Blade=STR builds.
Sword=INT builds.

Both builds/weps have 2 VERY nice combos (KD+Stab) in other words the Hidden Blade Series and the Killing Heaven Series. Bladers are very good tanks but put up the least amount of damage. Nukers(Sword users) put up large numbers but can be fairly easy to kill. Welcome :D

You don't need to post this. BlackMamba is pro, but this question was asked last year. Just about everyone in this thread now knows the pros and cons of swords and blades.

Or upping your post count?

The post count isn't important to me Sin. I just felt like bumping an old thread so we could look back at the good times before everyone knew everything about Silkroad there was.

That's all.

bumping an old thread for memories is fine, but if the memories are both not yours and a year old on a forum i don't think it is.

just noticed something, almost all the very old threads that were bumped up were posted by mamba XD
