I need some help with a Galvie/protector char, I'm going Lighting on this one.

1st. Is protector ok to have, since I will be in close proximity fights ? Does the initial setup have perspective in soloing and PvP ?

2nd. What are my options; Full STR, full INT or more STR or more INT, and what exactly doest that mean for the char, if I go one way or another..

3rd.What skills in Lightining are must-have and must-upgrade and suggestions on secondary skill.

Well, thanks for any awnsers, they all appriciated. No flaming the newbie, please.

:D

1. protector should be fine, it helps sometimes, and you can make up for the minor difference in defense in other ways. and the initial setup can be changed anytime, just buy different gear.

2. if you plan to use a glaive, go either full str or a hybrid, but glaives are better at physical damage, so think about that. i wouldn't use full int with one.

3. for lightning, get your imbue(the first skill), also get the one that makes you run faster(grass-walk flow). the passive(last one) is nice also. for a secondary skill, it depends on your gamestyle. fire can increase physical damage, cold can reduce physical damage taken. force can be used to help heal yourself or others, or res.

nice summary, Geobot.

you might wanna check out this thread (ooooh shameless self-promotion at it's best ;) and this one for some considerably in-depth information about character builds and what would best suit your style of play.

but a quick and dirty answer to your questions is:

1) i use protector and i can't imagine why more people don't. you get more phys def than garment, more mag def than armor, and a 10% bonus to both MP consumption and running speed. granted, garments bonuses are 20%, but protector is the best of both worlds, IMO.

2) see the threads i posted above. pure str glaive is a very popular build, but there are other options in those posts.

3) if you decide on int, the Piercing Force series is a definite must, as it increases mag dmg considerably. other than that, in lightning, Geobot's suggestions are awesome. again, of you're int, the Lion Shout (mini-nuke) and Wolf's Thunderbolt (real nuke) are key as well. if you're not int, getting those will be a waste of time, however.

hope that help :)

1. im one of those ppl who doesnt use protectors, using armor :D but yet i agree with suicidegrl.
2. with a glavie, (as using one in a nonactive character)i say go full str
3. like geobot, get your imbue, grasswalk which will help get to the next monster especially in beserk mode, and i really think that is all u need for lightning charcater. just lvl up ur imbue and mayb grasswalk to lvl 2-3.

haha sui the only reason i'm straying away from protector now is that i dont think the one i'll be weaing looks as cool as full armor.. although i might for for it when im lvl 36 just because i think the red garment thing makes you look like you're wearing pjs :)

but to stay ON topic:

1) protector is fine. i personally go for what i think looks best (how my char looks matters ALOT to me :D) and wear different ones during different situations, but now i'm edging towards protectors because when i wear a full garment i get a crapload of phys dmg

2) you have any option you want.. but for a glavie i would go full or hybrid str just cuz its a str based weap

3) since you're a glav char, the imbue is a must, so is fast walk. must pierce is but really only if you go for full int or int hybrid. secondary can be whatever you want. fire for more dmg, ice for more def, force for awesome people who res :)
