lately i've been seeing LOADS of people using ice and glavie! it seems like a really crappy build wen u think about it... u wont be doing maximum damage and the freezing rate is much lower than on a blade/sword/bow...
so can someone enlighten me? is this a new build or are these just noobs who switched to ice coz they got jelous of the ice/bow users?
oh, and if it helps, most of them are pure str.....

Pure Str glavie Ice user I will have fire and light as well, but my main is ice has been since i started. I know Ice doesnt matter in pvp now adays, but when you are pure int and i crit you with 5k damage ice dont matter anyways.. I got it mainly for the mobs, has worked well so far.

pretty useless imo, the reasons u give are true as far as I know. No need for the buffs either, cause its phy def incr.
mag def is more usefull when str imo ^^

I use fire but i also learnt the lowest lvl cold skill to help slow high lvl theifs and giants. It works pretty well. Maybe they are doing that? Or are they constantly using it?

yes always....
imbue, ice nuke, and occasionaly that weird ice attack that does 1 damage and slows them down, or the other one wer they jump up, slam down on the floor and produce a weird glacier(causes no damage but freezes)...

It's great at lower lvls, but as soon as you start getting to the cap you'll find more and more opponents who are immune to alchemy, making you lack in damage compared to fire glaiver.
The only other diffrence is that you have more phy defense from the buff.. but this add-on is so low it's not even worth considering. Even when you do, you prolly want more mag defense from fire as you don't have much of that anyway

it takes exactly 1 cold wave arrest to find out if your opponent is immune to ice or not. if he is, switch to another, higher dmg imbue. if hes not immune, freezing helps you a lot more then the bit higher dmg from fire.
of course, fire buffs are a *must*

Go fire and light. Put a bit of sp in ice to use in PVP (provided they are not immune) and in tight condition like high npc trying to pop you...

Personally I'm taking fire and ice imbue. I've found ice to be extremely helpful early in the game. Not sure how well it will be later, but I'm mostly taking it just for PvE. On giants I like to stick them with a burn effect then switch to ice and slow them down or freeze them. Really comes in handy.

I meant cold ^^. Butm yeah I don't really understand why they do it. Fire -> more dmg -> kill faster -> lvl faster. So pve it's not that great =/
And pvp you already have a huge amount of phy defense, so the defense from cold isn't that effective. Instead the magical defense from fire is much more usefull in groupwars, and not to forget you "just" deal more damage.
