Regarding the Lightning passive

I currently have a bow character and I've pumped some points into the Lightning mastery. The Lightning passive states that :

Increases permanently the dodge ratio by a specified amount

Should I have any points into this skill? After all, I don't see how a bow will "dodge" enemy attacks. And I'm not into levelling it and then decreasing it.

Also, is it advisable for someone to say, have a total of 4 masteries? Currently, on my bow character, I've the Pacheon, Fire, Ice, Lightning and Force mastery. The I intend to max out the first 3, while I'm getting the other 2 for their certain passive and all. The character is also a hybrid character.

Thanks in advance to people who can answer this and provide valuable advice! :)[/i]

I think its got something to do with crits.

I think with a higher dodge ratio you will receive less crits OR they wont hurt as much.

not sure though

Dodge/Parry means that if you have that passive, someone attacking you has a better chance to hit at the LOWER end of the damage split. Say I do 50-100 dmg with my sword. If you have high dodge, I'll hit closer to 50 than 100.

Attack Rating is the opposite for the attacker. Makes them hit closer to the HIGHER end.

Has nothing to do with crits.

higher doge rate reduses the chance the enemy scores a max damage roll on you , thus higher doge will reduse the damage you take over time

for grinding this means less pot usage witch= more gold to spend on sox

for pvp this means staying alive longer , having more chance your pot speed will save you ( couse your getting less damage/time and thus you heal more effective over time )

conbine lightning buff and passive with cold and/or fire buffs/passive and your char will have more survivability in combat

the passive alone wont save your ass in combat

much like taking only fire or ice passive is a waist

you need passive + buff to stay effective
