If your a blade or sword user, which combos do more damage together. the 4&5 chains or the Knockdown and stab?

Im a lv 15 Hybrid Int Sword Light and Force. I was just thinking of getting the chains cause it looked cool. But i also read that Knockdown and Stab is better but when i see people battle, chains do lower damage but do more once all 4 or 5 hits is landed.

if ur an int build then chains will be a waste of sp

ur not pure str and u cant crit hard. so ur chains will be worthless

ull have quicker and higher dmg with kd/stab. and since ur int thatll be a lifesaver in pve and pvp

but anyways... u should be nuking 95% of the time.

Remember im a hybrid int sword, so your saying this combo:

Light Nuke, Snake Sword Dance, 4 Chain, 5 Chain and then Lion Shout

Bleak was dead on. Chains are a bladers friend because of the additional crit opportunities. Sword will do best staying with just KD. HOWEVER, I will be using lvl1 bk2 chain until I can get the second KD skill. Once I get bk 2 KD all the chains skills go ByeBye.

cause i dont want to delevel them and then level them again after. there is always a new build that hasnt been discovered.

OK lets look at blade vs sword (or spear vs glaive) and what crit REALLY means. The blade (or glaive) does 120 damage with a 20 bonus from imbue. The sword (or spear) does 20 damage with a 120 bonus due to imbue. A crit attack doubles (approx) physical damage only. So str weapon is 120X2 + 20=260. Int weapon is 20X2 + 120=160. Crit is the best friend of the str based build. Int builds are looking for high attack rating so they can get the highest damage every attack.

This 6:1 ration is about the average I have seen for both the str and int characters I have.



Also most damage from chains can be potted away in PvP.

like i said, im hybrid int sword so every level, i put one strat point into str and 2 strat points into int.

Very similar to what I am doing. 1 str 2 int from 1 to 25, all int from 26-30 and then keep checking balances before commiting at each later level up. I plan on trying just 1 level of each of the book 2 chains. Chains will be mainly non giant PvE. Once I get to book 2 of the KD than I get ridd of all points in chain series. KD, KD, Stab, Stab will be the only weapon skills used. Remember that as an int build most of the damage will be from nuke,lion shout.

chain is extremely good for pvm ... imagine this ... chain doing more dmg then a nuke...

however.... chain is almost useless in pvp against blader for hybrid...but still do good dmg on pure str glaive

if ur going int heavy hybrid.. lvl ur chain to heaven chain lvl 1... and let it stay tat way dun ever up it anymore..u only use it on pvm...

Kd/Stab is ur best fren in pvp for hybrid ur stab is 2x dmg of a blader unless they crit...

It's true. A billow chain with my full int still deals more damage than my book1 nukes. Maybe near my fire book2.
I wish I could try with heaven chain, it could be really nice, but I don't have enough SP atm
I used chains (billow and blood) until lvl4x.

how is hybrid a underrated hybrid sherlock?

Just to add, I wanted to know if KD+Stab killed Giants faster compared to the 2 Chains, so I timed the duration it took me to kill 2 separate giants.

Surprisingly they both took EQUAL amount of time (1min 40s non zerk).

Chains were back to back with Smashing Strike in between, so no normal melee swings were used.

I alternated between single KD and AE KD if the single failed, so similarly no normal melee swings were used.

All skills were maxed to current level so I'd say there's minimum discrepency. In term's of mana cost, I think chains + smashing strike consume more mana compared to KD + stabs but I've yet to look at that.

KD stabs is slightly faster due to crits. For giants, I use KD and stabs, unless my wrists hurt, then I rest my hand and do chains.
