Why would you want fire instead of light? how does that make sense for a sword since its got a weaker magical damage then spear ?
sure fire imbume is stronger then light but not by much, also with light you have the magical damage increase buff ?????? who would argue this?

Fire:
Status immunity (fire shield), more nukes, stronger attacks than light for a strength char.
Light :
Parry increase, Speed buffs, dash, Magical attack increase passive.
I may have forgotten something up there but anyway fire got stronger damage than light for a strength character, Not sure if the magical attack buff would make the attack of light better for magical based characters.
The reason why many prefer Fire is that it got more nukes while light got 1 or 2 "main" nukes, with fire you can do a non-stop nukes while on light you will have to use a lower level nuke due to the slow regenerating speed of the nukes.

Also, Lightnings's nukes also have bad attack rating. So the dmg is not as consistent as Fire nukes' dmg. Fire gives you fire wall, that is very helpful as well.
But it's still 50:50 and it's all down to your preferences.
True, Lightning's nukes have that moment of waiting before the CD ends on the previous nuke, but that moment is so damn short that i barely notice it with my nuker when i don't look at the CDs and look at the char. Lightning's nukes don't actually have slow regeneration speed, it's just that Fire has more nukes on different CDs, 3 types of nukes, 2 on Lightning. Fire's Front Range AoE nukes have a long CD.
But it's still 50:50 and it's all down to your preferences.

My full INT is Bich/Light/Ice.
Main reason i chose Light is the mag attack buff, since sword has lower mag attack than spear. My chains end up doing the same dmg, if not a little more than the nukes.
Combine that with knock downs + stabs, 2 nukes are more than enough in an S/S arsenal.
