Garment/Protect or Armour?

Post by _Air_ »

Yeh another question

I've got a 'pure' Glaive at the moment, mainly with Heus/Fire/Force. I tell people I'm using armour and they're all like 'why?'. But I don't understand what real difference it makes financially and how beneficial it is. If I use Garment that means I'm open to more physical attacks, more resistant to magical, but I also lose my phys reinforce and I spend less on MP potions, get a speed increase but spend a lot more on Hp potions.

Alright fair dos, but if I use Armour I lose magical defence, I'm more resistant to physical, get a phys reinforce, but I spend less on HP potions and instead more on MP potions. However, it just means there's a less chance of me dying.

It seems more favourable to use an Armour instead. If anything, at least a Protector set as it gives the best of both worlds, meaning I don't have to switch depending on the mob. So why do most people seem to be wearing Garments? Appears that Garment would be more effective for PvP, instead of PvE.

The problem with armor is that any wizard, or int character, will rape you.

Alright omier44, makes sense lol.

And if I come across a Warrior or str character, I'm in a bit of trouble there too, right?

I'll probably try buying Garment sets and Protector, and change around.

No. Armor is ideal for tanking Str characters. You'll never die against them if you're in armor.

Oh. Well yes, str chars will be harder to tank. But since almost all chinese str chars wear garments anyhow, you'll be on an even playing field with them.

Now as for warriors and rogues in HA or LA, you're basically screwed. But then again, even if you were in Armor, they'd still probably kill you. Especially if they had a cleric subclass.

TBH for grinding all chars should wear prot/garms unless they somehow have like a really weak char (as in a int bow w/ weak gears :p) that gets killed often in grinding. I remember wearing armor in the lower lvls since int cars kinda get owned then, switching to garms after getting nukes but then switching to protector in caves to not get raped by the spawns :p

For pvp, protector would be ideal for 1vs1 but garms would be better for group pvp id say

in short; wear prot at lower lvls as a glaive, garms as you go higher for grinding
let it gooooo let it gooooOoOooOOOOOO

pve - garms - lower pot usage and more speed
group pvp - garms - just take my word that you will have alot more to worry from wiz/nukers than rogues here.
pvp - prot - balanced.
Spoiler!

Theseus - lvl 5x - warrior/rogue

If you can't Afford Immortality Armor SET, then go Garments, just dont pvp Str Euro with Cleric sub cuz as force Glaive, you will surely lose cuz your debuff won't work. I used to have nova+9 protector set but I traded it to nova+9 Garments, I have no regret cuz prot is a master of none, there are more wizards that attacks you from nowhere than warriors.
