Bower Build Question - Cold or Light?

I'm in the process of making a 'pure' Str Bower at the moment, going for Pach/Fire, but I'm still trying to decide on Cold or Light for my third tree. Cold gives a player the physical def boost along with the cold imbue and snow shield(not as helpful though), while Lightning gives what... speed, magical buffs and parry related buffs?

Is Lightning useful to a Bower at all? Speed is the only thing I keep thinking as mainly beneficial, while parry I'm not so certain on.

You can have a mix of light and cold , something like 30 light and 80 ice .

I guess, but is it even worth sacrificing 30 levels of Cold, for Light? Just wondering what is more help in general and in the long run.

For pure str light isn't really worth it but you can get 20 or 30 light for speed if you want , don't go less than 20 if you want it or don't get it at all .

You will need atleast 40+ Light to have it somewhat usefull. 40 light gives you 48% movement. But I personally believe pure str's don't need light. Ice has much more to offer with the imbue, phy def and ice wall. The only real buff from light for a pure str is indeed speed, something that can be easily fixed with speed potions or scrolls.

Nevertheless if you find yourself lacking sp, or you cba to farm enough sp to max out a 3rd tree your best would be getting 90 light and 20 ice. 20 ice is enough to get the first snowshield and 90 light will give you a very nice boost in speed and parry.

Hm alright, thanks. But is parry any use to a Bower anyways?

Don't bother with ice since your going full str. The extra physical defense from ice is the only benefit and its still not even worth it. As a full str you already have lots of physical defense power. Adding that little extra wont make much of a difference.

At 90 the buff+passive was already like wearing a complete extra part. At 110 it will be much much higher even so yes it's worth it.

As a pure str getting the mag dmg buff will only increase dmg with a few hundred (that is at 90-100+ even so even less at lower lvl's). Speed can easily fixed by making speed pots, buying speed pots, using speed scrolls or by partying with a bard. The parry buff/passive are decent but nothing that can be fixed by doing some alchemy on your gear. Get max parry blue and 41+% on the white and you're set.

Yes you have alot of phy def from being pure str, but with the extra phy def from ice you can wear garm and thus move faster and use less mp while still being able to easily tank other str characters. Honestly ice is the obvious choice here, unless sp is a problem.

Well SP isn't going to be a problem, as I'm farming this character in preparation.

30 Ligth only gives you like 35-40% speed.. that is not that much... Since you are bow user i have to say that i've always loved the Ice Imbue in Arrows... it gives you an extra time to defeat mobs without taking any damage.. so i would say Cold... And if you are taking both.. do the clasic, 20 cold 90 light.. 20 cold gives you lvl 1 Snow Shield... and it is quite usefull...
