Typically, when my DoT from my fire imbue lands, it does 16 damage a tick (I'm currently lvl 20). However, occasionally I see a triple digit orange number pop up. I've seen some high 100's numbers. Now, I'm not exactly sure if this is the DoT doing extra damage or a graphical glitch that make my white damage orange for some reason.

I would be willing to bet on the latter because it never seems like the enemy takes extra damage (I would notice the enemies HP drop if 100 extra damage were done to it). However, it may not be a graphical glitch either because my white damage always pops up as well.

Any idea what this is?

happens to me all the time too, doesnt seem like any extra damage is done, im sure its a gui glitch

It's a glitch. But once you get 3rd book Fire Imbue, it'll almost always burn for 3 digits.

What's DoT?

My guess is damage over time.

the orange triple digit number is your dmg added with the burn effect's DOT

say your DOT is 16 and you supposedly hit 400 on an earth ghost. the orange dmg should then read 416.
