No. Pure str should always pick fire, and never ice. I have 75% anit-freeze now, autopot with the strongest univeral pills, and kill icers 2-3 lvls higher than me, lvl 57, now, and rofl at bow icers who take 5 hits to kill a monster their level, while it takes me 1-2 hits. Ice is not a weapon, it's strongest points are the physical protection bonuses which better suit a nuker than a pure str character.

If you get lightning, get only the grasswalk and maybe concentration and the passive. All other lightning buffs are for int chars.

Here is what I did for my build -- pure str bow, mastery in fire and in force (ressurection, harmony circle and passive, only) and lvl'd lightning just high enough to max my first book in grasswalk and the passive up to that lvl.

Since pure str's do not need to put as much into lightning as nukers, people tend to forget that force is a viable alternative.

Now that I have said all that, out of all the pure str builds, the archer is the most vulnerable. The glaive user has more hp because of the passive for hueksal, and the blader has his/her shield, the archer has only distance, and that can be easily countered. I have seen archers compensate by using the physical protection ice provides... but this should still be secondary to fire, and don't even bother with the ice imbue.
