yea..spear or sword + shield? im a leevl 37 and i using a spear for a int nuker character and i like pvp-ing..should i u se a spear or sword + shield?

just buy a sword and shield for pvp and you'll be okay

yup...doesnt have toO be anything like wow wow wow...good mage power for sword & good block ratio for shield...should do fine...anything else is a plus =D

heh when you're 50+ you'll have enough consecutive high dmg nukes to not bother with getting sword skills

if u ar pure int nuker,, go for the sword and shield,(extra defense and it can block)
if u ar hybrid ,, go with spear,, ( don't know y,, just feel like it.. and the skill looks way better... lolz)

im not entirely pure int, i did put 5 str at lower lvl :/ BUT i love my spear, and would seriously reccomend it.

I'm up to 47 now w/ my pure int nuker, and I've not used a sword or shield once. I'm sure I've died more times than a sword nuker, but I'm also sure I kill slightly faster than one too. When I do die, it's because I'm either being mobbed and one of them crits me, or a giant crits me (1shotted). I have been hunting Mujigis/Ujigis since I got book2 fire nuke (43 w/ 0 gap), and tonight I killed some Ishades to get a change of pace. Currently Mujigis are 1 shot, Ujigis 2 shots, and Ishades 2 w/ an occasional 3 shot. I can do Penons, but I don't kill them fast enough for it to be worth it.

When I'm PvPing more, I'll switch out my spear for sword, if I'm going to be doing any 1v1, but will still use spear for guild wars and PvE.

In other words, I suggest spear.

I personally prefer sword+shield. I've actually spent quite a bit of money on all of my shields (BR18 or better), and it saves my life quite often. Because of the extra defence and block capacity I often don't mind being mobbed. Sure, it takes a couple of extra HP potions, but with my lightning nukes and lion shouts I can quickly kill multiple enemies. Fighting giants is even more fun: while zerking my splash damage is often enough to take out any normal enemies that pass by in one shot.

It all depends on how good the rest of your gear is. Basically, if you're fighting mobs that you're confident of never getting killed by, use a spear to speed up the process. If it's something like where if you ever get crit by a monster or mobbed by 2 monsters and you die, use sword+shield.

heh with a sword/shield in PvE, sure you can blok a hit or 2 from a mujgi at lvl 4x but if it crits your dead meat cuz you won't have that extra bit of hp from heuksal. but go spear and switch to sword/shield for pvp, you still have the extra hp and it's only a little decrease in BR
