Pure int bard/cleric?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a pure int bard/cleric?

I have already made the character, so please don't start telling me why I should make a wizard/cleric instead or switch to Chinese. I just want to know what the good and bad things are before I continue too far with it.

First are you talking about a fighter or a buffer?

Biggest disadvantage that you should know is that you are far weaker against much classes at cape fightning, and dont even think about beating Glavier / Warrior / Rogue, except with offering.

Glaive and Warrior, no. Rogue. With DD or XX on, a well timed booming chord might be deadly dep on how well each player's set is. Bard are pretty good at killing in FW. Just travel in a group. Run around and blast attacks at other team.

Alone though, they are obviously not the best 1vs1. They will really shine in both group pvp and in grinding. You are the ultimate buffer.

your wanted in parties, meaning you will lvl fast. the build is pretty fun to play as well

the main disadvantage is that it will be impossible to kill a str in pvp

well its a perfect build when you have a euro team with friends who are online when you are...
tho dont forget this is a buff build it's not meant to deal high dmg

advantages: every party wants you so try to get on something like teamspeak with friends in the party its alot more fun.
- also i have seen some lvl 85 clerics grind they level fast as full int you deal enough damage to 1hit kill a normal mob and you wont die fast because of all buffs (GO LIGHT ARMOR)

(dis)advantage is 1v1 pvp this kinda sux tho cleric you can be strong with justice cross and trial cross and absolute dmg skills and offering. but when you wear light armor and have LA passive skills your defence will be really good! (always pvp as cleric.. bard can be useful for FW or GuildVSguild

All my friends (team, whatever you want to call it) are chinese, would that affect my usefulness to them much since they have pots?

I'm plvling my bard/cleric now, he's now lvl 67.
Bard/cleric is NO PVP build, its a pt build wich can solo also with good gears. Bard attacks are so freaking fast, with decent gear and weapon it really ownz in pve. BTW if you can find a decent party, you will have to most fun build in whole sro trust me.

When I reach level 20 should I become hunter or merchant? It seems the build is not suited for much damage on thieves or surviving long against them.

Pure int bard/cleric ?
No don't go for pure int since u need to survive for party buffs , put like ~15 lvls STR points .

Aside from bumping an old topic...

Personal preference is pure int. I did add some str to my bard/cleric (about 6 levels) and regretted it later.

A Euro party done right - a cleric shouldn't die in one hit. RD up, healing orbit, bless ready, tambours reducing damage, wizards killing quickly, a warrior or two taking aggro? It should be rare that a pure int cleric will die at all, much less in one hit.

In practical terms, yes, Euro parties are rare - I ended up in mixed Chinese/Euro parties all the time, and no, Chinese cannot hold aggro very well.

Int also affects healing amounts as previously discussed in several threads.

Of course the poster is entitled to build whatever he prefers. But a cleric main should be pure int, just like a wizard (although for different reasons).

w8 why is it impossible to kill str builds for bard/clerics? just do RD/heal cycle/bless and spam nukes which are almost instant cast, if opponent has snow/bless use absoloute dmg attaks(bards have 2 with small CD's i think)

A bard/cleric can kill a str, of course. Like bard, or like cleric, you have absolute damage skills. Well, the damage of a wizard is best than a bard, but a bard is still a int char, with a good damage (compaare the damage of a harp with a sword, or even a spear), very fast skills, and extra defence from tambours.

Bard clerics are very good at FW, guild war, CTF, massive job wars etc.
Not so good at 1v1.

I farmed my bard/cleric 1 mil sp, and I gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. currently lvl 83, full sos gear and weapons. Definitely not a 1 v 1 pvp build. Im going to switch to warlock eventually. However bard/cleric is a good money making build, great for powerlevels and pve, since it uses no pots at all.
