Im currently making a pure str character but dont know what weapon or protection to use, i was thinking blade with garment but i want your advice.

I'd start with garment till ~lvl 20, and maybe switch to protector lateron if you'd like, or just keep garment. Most people use a blade+shield or a glaive, and the Fire mastery tree as their main.
Look around in the Guides section of this forum, enough info there.

Well str chars can carry:
- a glaive.. high damage and a good defense to
- a blade.. lower damage, but very high defense because they can carry a shield
- a bow.. damage and defense aren´t that good, but the fact that they´re ranged sorta makes up for it

Just look around a bit and see what fits you the most as far as I know theirs a Guide sticky´d for every build

I'm wearing armor as an almost pure str char. Am I not supposed to? How come garment/protector are better?

you already have a high physical defence and wearing garments gets you a speed movement bonus so you spend less time killing stuff because you can move to them faster.

Thanks for the tips, Ive read some of the guides and ive decided to go with blade with garment because of the speed and shield. Unless someone can think of a reason not to....

I'm not sure why you are looking to build a blader. It is the hardest kind to level.. and the damage sucks. They are not even the best for PK either. They won't die sure.. but they can't kill either. The only good part about blader is that they are great tanks. Unless you are looking to be one, why would you build a blader?

I've currently got Grass Walk rank 3, and will probably get it near max if I SP farm. I'd rather have the higher defense that a little bit more added walking speed personally.

Main reason for pure str wearing Garments in my opinion is the fact they have low MP and garment gives you the 20% MP use reduction bonus on toast ftw.

Since youre adding points into str you already have a boost in psy defense, but none in mag defense, therefor:

Garment for str

Armor for int

Why are you talking shit about a blade build?

They do MORE than fine in pvp.

why does everyone say the damage of a bow isnt that good?

it has a high attack rating which makes it hit harder more often...

and it has a crit-on-demand skill called anti-devil bow... and strong bow aint that bad either...

bows do the same if not more damage than a glaive...

Sorry for the sudden change in topics but why do people say blades lvl slow? Do they get less xp or is it just hard to make it a good build?

Welcome to the forum kamoflage. Blader with garment, that is a good combination. You need to choose a main magic skill to use too, so have a look around and choose the one that suits you best.

A blade doesn't deal out as high damage as some other weapons and therefor it takes a little bit longer to level (as in killing the mobs).

bladers level fine but yeah the damage they deal isnt as high as a glavie user so they take "more time" to level.... get your quests done, and grind.. way i see it grinding is grinding so what i have to kill 5 more mobs than you i got the weapon i like

Not true, first of all anti devil only crits 1/3 times with a good crit bow and the first 2 books. Second strong bow takes 4 seconds to fire. Bows have low dmg, its a fact, BUT they have range
