I prefer warlocks. When it comes to grinding, both can solo fast, but with wizard you are going to die alot more than with warlock.
About pvp, wizard pvp's are boring, either u 1 hit, or they 1 hit you.
I haven' t done much jobbing so i won' t comment on that part of game.
This is just my opinion, to me warlocks are the most fun to play euro class.
About sp needs, they both cost alot of sp, warlocks need almost all of their skills, same as wizards.
Hope i helped

+1 to CurseR
I started out my character as a Wizard/Cleric, but ended up switching to Warlock/Cleric when I finished farming and I'm very happy I choose to switch ^^
PvE
Wizard might be slightly faster than Warlock for grinding, because of it's large AoE attacks. You'll also have less trouble finding a Euro party to grind with. (A lot of people do not understand that having a Warlock in the party is a God's gift

)
If you handle your Warlock well, you'll probably be able to grind (almost) as fast as wizards. One big bonus of warlock is that you'll gain zerk every +-2 minutes, if you frequently use your DoT attacks, causing you to be able to zerk almost constantly during your grind sessions.
PvP
Like CurseR said, wizard ain't much fun in PvP. Basically, just nuke and try to kill as much as you can before you get killed. You'll die very fast, especially if you're using Life Turnover.
Warlock on the other hand is imo the funnest build to PvP with, you'll have a lot of skills to be a true pain in the a$$ for your enemy. Stun, trap, sleep, debuffs, loads of absolute dmg <3
You will need to know your skill bars well and be able to push your skills fast, but you shouldn't have any trouble learning to fight with your build along the way.
During job fights you'll be a valuable asset to your party. Stun the enemies who try to run, put the zerking wizard to sleep, debuff the opponents and watch them fall like flies,...
As far as SP is concerned, warlock is the more expensive build.
If you were to max out all your skills to 90, a Warlock/Cleric would cost you exactly 111.222 SP more compared to Wizard/Cleric.
Usually you don't max out all your skills though. As Warlock I would suggest taking almost all of them, except maybe 2-3 and 1 optional. While a wizard could drop around 6-7 skills imo.
But all warlocks I know, don't regret to have had to farm more.
Good luck with your build
