do i need to lvl up weapon skills if using magical attack?

do i need to level up weapon skills if i am using infuse (ice) for a magical attack? the weapon skills seem to improve physical attack, but does it improve magical attack to level them up? should i just get the first level of a skill, and leave it there?

For int builds the imbue *Ice,fire,light* does a crazy amount of damage. And the weapon skills don't do as much.
The opposite can be said for str builds. Their weapon skills do a crazy amount of damage while their imbue doesn't do as much.

However. You should/need to get both the weapon skills and an imbue. Those 2 combined will back your attacks MUCH stronger.

So yes. Get both the weapon skills and ice.

Weapon % won't increase your magical damage. Ints get weapon skills to increase their DPS [Damage per Second].

so physical weapon skill power is ADDED to magical ice attack power. i understand now. by the sound of it, i can keep my weapon skills behind my ice imbue level, as i only have limited skill points.

Barotix, by "%", do you mean the weapon mastery % power increase, or the % of the individual skills? what difference does the "200%" or "250%" part of the individual skills make?

I meant physical balances. The 200% VS 250%; they're multipliers. This means the latter will do higher damage than the former, but the 200% will cast faster than the 250%.
