Guard Tambour basically gives you the defense of a shield withotu having 1. You also get Noise, which prevents normal mobs from attacking you (including normal party mobs). On top of that, if you can't take on Champs or giants, you can use the skill that reduces aggro around you, so the giant/champ will stop attacking you. I would say they have a pretty high survival rate. Never get mobbed, unless it's a bunch of champs or giants, but that's not very likely. Plus, you can always use temptation to get 30 seconds away from some giant if there is a nearby mob.

With cleric sub, bard is a very playable character. The attack spells are quite reasonable, and combined with their short execution time, they're actually quite good. Add recovery division, and a bard/cleric is very well capable of solo play.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing 2 bards team up with 6 Chinese characters. The bardic buffs greatly increase the total damage output (while reducing damage taken), and their own spells add quite well to the total group damage. Since they don't have to worry about other people's MP, they can spend most of their time doing damage.

Was guard tambour a skill that you can solo mobs with it activated? I think there was something like it having a chance of going away if you get hit or you take damage.

Lol, that was weirdly worded.

Solo-wise, Bards WITH A CLERIC subclass can survive pretty well.
Guard Tambour does have a chance of going off randomly everytime you get hit, which is unreliable at times. But, bards get a skill at lvl 30 that prevents this from happening as much. Resistance, i believe its called.
Noise and moving march, obviously help anyone who solos.
Fast cooldowns work to their advantage as well.
With Recovery division, Healing cycle (useful on pt mobs and giants and higher level champions), Bless, and Holy Word (optional), survival rate is pretty high if you know when to use what skills.

Im maxing Discord Wave (removes aggro). This is a bard's best friend XD
SOme people find it useless. Thats because they havent maxed it yet or they use it at wrong times and on wrong mobs (party mobs are harder to remove aggro, esp in an 8-man party)

and with a cleric subclass, mp for healing hp is not a problem

Bards are sweet! I just started one, and yes I'm still a low lvl noob (lvl 19). If you grind like 3-5 lvls below your own lvl, you kill in an incredible speed with quite alot of drops. And by killing that fast you still lvlup quite easily. Now, I'm still low lvl so I'll post my findings later on when I'm a bit higher lvl. But I think this way it's the best way to lvl a bard without worrying about dieing.

Actually they do suck a bit...you can solo but u have to be extremely careful..and you wont be very fast either cause you wanna be careful when casting your skills (especially that ur strongest skill is AOE, so you'll have to make sure that only 1 other general mob besides the one u hitting is around) even then you might also get pwned if ur pots didnt catch up (if they're fast hitters)

I actually quit my last bard for a while cause i got pissed with that..i was like lv45 and i had to be pretty careful when soloing mobs like 5 lvls below me..it can be easy if the spawn rates are like kokuros..but ones like ongs or something..you're pwned.

I didnt have cleric though...i believe cleric skills wouldave made a great difference..you'll be almost no different than a china nuker (auto heal [cycle] + average nukes)

And GT only helped me with the first couple of hits i get..its still possible to renew the buff on yourself after each mob though.

Overall..you can solo (without cleric)..only if you guarantee that they wont be able to hit you more than 1 time..in other words..you have to 2-3 shot kill them.

You should think more about pts...make your own if you cant find any..people need bards you can get to pts 10 lvls higher than ya (almost as good as plvling..except that you help lol)
