It is called the Mouse quickslot. Go to System -> Option -> Set Input and it will be just a regular hotkey. Some people use it for pots, other imbues or skills. It just depends on your style and build.

put the HP pot in slot 1, mana in slot 2 and pills in slot 3

And set the gliders to detemine at what % do you want the pots to discharge.

what is it for?

Its for the midle mouse button, which you cam use that or Hit "X" to activate it. I use it for anything that I need to quickly execute, such as self heal. That way no matter what group im on its there.

i put them in a different "row" i guess you could say...

i have all of my skills and what not on F1

then i have all my "buffs" in F2

then i have my pots and pills in F3

works fine for me...
