damage of different builds

Post by superblur »

i finally got one of my characters deleted.... (7 days is a long time)

and im going to make a new character

ive decided to make either of these two:

pure str (maybe even 2:1 str hybrid) bow user

or a 2:1 int spear user

both will have fire as a main but the sub is undecided

and i was just wondering how well the damage of a bow stacks up to the damage of the hybrid spear user...

i there any one knowledgable about these two builds that can help me out?

thank you all who reply

If you decide to use a spear and probably be a nuker, I would say you shouldn't go hybrid. Although SuicideGirl would say otherwise I would rather take the extra damage rather than the extra health and phy damage that I will never use as a nuker.

oh.. hell yeah ...

Anyway, Spear nuker = Pure int, that's what i'd play with... Hybrids are tricky. lots of trial and error..

Bow will be nice for farming/grinding... we like the bow.. too bad low lvl ones are so ugly.. ^__^

I wouldn't recommend a hybrid for a first char. SG Dem and Moog, IMHO all got lucky. There is a LOT of room for completely f*cking your char up going hybrid, esp. since you can't undo stat points. HOWEVER. If done right, I think a hybrid can be more powerful than a pure. The problem is, you REALLY need to know your character, not only at its current level, but at the upper levels too. A little extra HP at lvl 35 might be nice, but if it means you run out of mana in PVP before you can get a full skill combo out..you've just crippled yourself.

Demarthl remade a character, a pure; Moogie quit.

Hi, first post.
Firstly don't flame me below is just my opinion.

The thing with iSRO forum is that we haven't playied the game as long as the Koreans or the Chinese. At most we r at lvl70. The dynamics of the game changes from lvl to lvl.

Since i read a bit of chinese, heres the general opinon they hav there.

at lvl cap(in China lvl80)
- Pure str rules (not because u hit hard, but because u hav too much HP and is beyond pure int 2nuke. Since HP goes up in a non linear way.)
- Pure int damage is the highest, n will always be. (completely owned, by pure str fire glaive at lvl80). Ur worst enermy is pure str archer.
- 2:1 int mostly regarded as rubbish, but many hybrid still manage to over come pure str (difficult to play)
- 1:1 balance built, said to be able to over come both pure int and str at higher lvl90 (according to the koreans)

Me I am lvl 50 2:1 int hybrid sword. And I'm still playing. The key is use both force and weapon skill. Nuke, when they come close use weapon skill. U may su*k now cos ur HP is not alot more then the pure int but the gap will open up later. (oh ya, u will need tons of SP)

If u pvp for living and intent to play the game all the way, go pure str glaive. If u just wan to PvE and play the game, u can try other built. Yes, hybrid built is interesting and fun. (Don't be worried if u don't nuke as hard as the pure int.) A lot of trial and error as mentioned in above post.

Thats all for now. Hey, imagine a world of pure int n str (that will make the game boring IMHO).

Just commenting something about the forces...

Ice seems most ideal for a pure int character, since the dmg would be upped by int.

Lightning seems better suited for pure str, or str hvy hybrids with its shock effect lowering parry. The mag. dmg buff also helps add onto physical attacks.

Fire seems better geared for a int hvy hybrid or 1:1 hybrid, since it offers the highest magical dmg, with phy dmg. buffs, along with mag. def./status reduce skill. But fire also benefits str hvy hybrids with its high mag. dmg, and phy. dmg buff.

Force skill tree... looks great if you're in a exp share party. Just hang out in the back and heal the tankers, lower the stats of target (Agi Down!! rofl iRO), and res the dead party members, while forming a safe zone... pure support if you go pure force...

If only some one would open up the game engine to test out different combinations of force, stats and weapons...
The meaning of life, is...

ok lots of things to address here.

superblur: if you're going to go str, go pure. there's little reason for being a str-based hybrid unless you have a very specific playing style (i have a friend whose archer build is based on AR and parry, and he does huge dmg). if you're going int, you know how i feel about hybrids, but pure is a great option too. make sure you pick lightning as your 2nd force if you're going int... the buffs and passives are essential.

Suwin Tzi: ice isn't the best for an int player because inaddition to being a weaker force from a damage standpoint, its buffs and passives help less than lightning's. i think lightning and fire are the way to go, since it gives you 5 total nukes, all the boffs and passives you need, etc.

mono: welcome to the forums! thanks for sharing, and don't worry, there's very little flaming around here.

ShizKnight: don't hate, mate :) j/k, i know you're a pure advocate, but remember that moogie and dem didn't quit for reasons regarding their characters; it was for reasons regarding the game itself. dem only rerolled because he was sick of xian. he liked his character a lot, IIRC. being a hybrid is all about playing smart.

Devotia: to an extent, you're right. SG started when i had NO IDEA what i was doing. i got lucky. but that's why i created a guide to help people not make the mistakes that i thankfully avoided.

jetjetjetjet: ... i excel at a lot of things. being a noob isn't one of them. i own pure builds of both types, and i win more often than i lose by far. "go pure or go home" is a really closed-minded attitude, and if you'd like, i can open your mind a bit with a meteor falling from the sky :)

antix: my health has saved me many times, but i do sometimes long for the high dmg numbers pures put up. however, being able to tank a lvl60 ice blader at lvl56 yesterday convinced me that i was doing ok ;)
