Creating new character

Post by SolidusRegime »

I am coming back to SRO, and I haven't played in over a year. I was wondering what I should start with. I preferabbly want to be PvE based and will probably never do PvP. I also don't want to be a bow man, I was wondering what to do out of Glaive/Spear or Sword/Blade.

Also, I can't remember exactly how the level gaps worked, but can someone give me a brief run through of how I should set up my character for a level gap?

For pure pve, take a pure int spear/sword. Which of those is personal preference, but the spear does more damage while the sword has more defense.

About the gap, 9 gap is the highest, which will give you the most sp. (gap is the difference between your level and your skill masteries level).

Have fun  (by the way, there are a lot of guides)

Int based characters do more damage butt have less hp. So with pve you want the most damage, so that would be int.

As for the gap. There are different ways to do it. With a 9 lvl gap you'll get more skill points than you can use at the moment, so that way you can go with a 0-2 gap on the later levels. With a 4 or 5 gap you can probably can go all the way with having the same gap all the time. Another way to do it is farm with a 8-9 lvl gap at certain points in the game where you can buy new weapons. As for me, I have a 8 lvl gap which I'll probably keep untill about lvl 43, so that after that I can go with a 2 lvl gap or so...

Okay then cool. Thanks heaps, I will look into it. I might be a fire str bowman, like my old character, but I will have to see. I am thinking of being a str ice blader, not sure if it is a good idea, so let me know what you think.

I thought you wanted to go pve?

Pure str archer is a mediate build for all the things. I don't think a pure str ice blader is a good idea. That's most certainly a pvp person. Besides...with that build you can't be killed, but you can't kill other people neither, because of the lowest damage possible in the entire game, but with the highest defense.

I thought you played the game before :?

Spear and sword are used for int based characters
Glavie and blade are used for str based characters

So if you want to be int, you should choose spear or sword...Which of the 2, as I said before, is just personal preference. A spear does more damage but dies faster. Furthermore you should look at what skills you like? My personal preference is for the spear, just for the massive damage, but a sword has better looking skills 8)

Oh yeah furhtermore. As I pure int I would go for lightning and offcourse the weapon skills. I would take fire as well, because it does the most damage. At the moment you can get 3 masteries at max lvl and even have some skill levels left.

A lot of people take ice as a int player for the future 90 cap with the mana shield (look in other topics to read about that). But that's just a choice. I don't like ice, so I wouldn't take it, but with the mana shield it would come in very handy...

I played like a year ago, and I can't remember half the stuff. So would a Pure Int Lightning/Fire swordsman be decent?

That's a really good build for pve. Even in pvp you make a chance with a sword and shield (other than with a spear).

Just take that build and have fun

Yeah, alright, thanks heaps for that. I guess once I get further enough I can start working on the glaive for that juicy HP bonus to go on top of my high level INT.

Well, you could do that, more people do that. But keep in mind that you have a max of 300 skill levels. So in the future, with the 90 cap, you'll probably want to be, or at least something like this:

90 bicheon
90 lightning
90 fire
30 which you can spend on anything you like

Also, regarding my clothing, should I wear armor, garments, or protector?

As a pure int, the most common advice is armor, cause you'll already have a lot of int defense (that also goes up with int, as does physical defense goes up when you go str, but that's not the case with you).

Armor gives you the best physical defense...

Okay, I got it al lready to go. My character is created, now I need to know some things. When should I start working on my skills and what sort of skills should I work on, and what others shouldn't I work on?
