Hybrid Int S&S ? Extra phy def/HP vs. Less dmg nukes

so the other day i was talking to my guildmates and we all agree tt pure int nuker dies fast wif the pathetic amot of hp (i die fast in pvp even wif lvl 3 spear passive and cant even survive a same lvl str glaive crit)

so they say tt hybrid S&S at naked mag balance 80%-85% would be the best ( they said lesser mag bal will nt affect nuke dmg much )

My Qn is will hving 5% mag balance less affect my nuke dmg severely???
(and yeah i know S&S nuke is already nt as strong as spear nukes)

the following info i found out mayb useful:
- PURE int has only ard 4.8k hp at lvl 80 (w/o all the equipement +str/int tt is)

- Hybrid hving a naked mag balance of 80% at lvl 80 will hv 7.6k hp (one third more)

i will hv extra hp/phy def in hybrid and can always pimp my gears to up the mag balance back to 90%

so any 1 has any calculations etc. to show how the mag balance affects nuke dmg?
If it doesnt affect much then i will go hybrid int for extra phy def+hp

i 2nd this topic i need to get a good mag balance for hybrid

my 1:2 (74% naked) sword hybrid do low damage in pve and pvp..of course i can tank more, but make leveling speed slower.

anyway my guildmate suggested to me go 1 str/2 int fr lvl 1-lvl 60
and then go pure int(3 int) fr lvl 60-lvl 80 cuz at lvl 60 the lvl-ing is already slow so adding str at pt of time wouldn't help at all

and tis way it will achieve a 80% mag bal

any experts can answer my 1st post??? thx

I really thinks depends on what you really dig:

1) survival

or

2) damage

in my opinion, a S/S KD nuker don't need that much HP because you always have a shield to block some stuff, but its really up to you, because if you are fighting someone with full SOx stuff, of course 90% balance is gonna die faster than a 85%(if you happen to lose that is), however, a lot of it comes down to good gear after all, a good br /crit shield can save your butt anytime.

being a KD nuker you must be smart when pvping, you have to know your limitations and according to your balance, make adjustments in your fighting style, knowing when to retreat and pot some is really important.

I really don't have much of a suggestion except try it both (I know getting from 85%-90% is a long way) but try to get 90% first, if you like it stay there, if you don't add some str and get it to 85%. which ever suits your playing style more.

I have to stress that there are no "PERFECT" builds, there advantage and disadvantage in all builds, keep that in mind.

AND yes 5% difference can make a big difference in terms of defence and damage. and I would almost classify it as two separate builds within the same genre. That 5% actually mean a big difference in terms of investing on int or str points, if you play around with the character builder, you'll find the difference, and how much points you have to add to int to get the balance from 85% to 90%. This is particular more difficult as you reach higher levels.

thx for the reply ...i add only int until lvl 30 now (naked mag balance 91%)... as i mentioned i cant even tank 1 hit pure str glaive crit (1.2k hp wif equipment +str/int)

"Personally" I don't think its worth it to go for the HP, because I' would rather have a character that is better at one thing than be mediocre in everything, also most of the time you'll be using KD and stab. A 90% build only pays off after you get more than 1 book of the stabs, therefore be patience, this build pays off more at higher lvls. I"ve never calculated the difference in nuke damage for that 5%, but as far as I know from the game its a big difference. (any one can verify this?, I can't back this up)

and remember GOOD GEAR make a BIG difference!!!! and every little thing helps at high lvls.

And btw, you are only pure int right now as I suppose? yes pure int die fast, but you'll be surprise how much str points you will add to get that balance to 90%. also it comes down to many other factors if you can't survive, like your auto pot %, type of gear, what masteries.

yup pure int so far at lvl 30, fr lvl 30 -40(out of 30 stats i can choose) i will nid to put in 15 str(+10 auto added pt) to make it a 85% naked mag at lvl 40
btw i use protector and mastery at lvl 30 all skills max (farmed at 16)

and yeah

Screw PvP. Can't judge a pure int character based on PvP success; it's like 1% of the time you spent on PvP, the rest is killing mobs; + a bit of jobs. How much trouble do you have with mobs? Giants? That should be the questions. Also, at lvl 30, you don't have enough skills to be successful at pvp; from a few youtube vids posted in this forum, ghost walk seems to be absolutely necessary for nukers (and bow); as well as the extra stab in the 40's.

Everytime u lvl, take off ur clothes an add int or str till u have 80mag bal.
my mag bal is around 80-82 when im naked and its 98% when with clothes. Im lvl 62 dual wep hybrid int. Im very very very happy with this build. best build in the game(along with glaviers) in my opinion.

how abt ur nukes? is it doing ALOT less dmg than a pure int? or is it not much a diff in dmg?

K in pvp past lvl 70, anything for s/s below 90% naked balance will have a VERY hard time killing. You will be a much better tank, but its pot wars ftl in pvp.

I think s/s should be 90%+ when naked.

I speak from experience and have talked to many hybrids about this. Many of them hate their build cause they cant kill at this cap (still <3 you masterthee )
