Gladly will i tell you, young forumite.
From the Heuskal Tree we want one rank of the first book of the first series (the skill available at level 5 Heuskal Mastery) and then nothing really. Later on you should take the Chelosam Force skill to up your HP and also one of the AOE attacks for spread dmg, and a few ranks of Flying Dragon Spear.
From the Force Tree, we want lightning. The skills to increase are the imbue to its maximum, the "Piercing Force" series as much as possible, the Tiger Howl series to a certain extent (try to use less than 3 or 4 ranks here as we will resucitate these with the Curst Heart quest later).
Also, consider taking the Healing tree. Maxmimizing the Rebirth series and the Passive (last book) of this tree are highly beneficial to us.
Also, you may want to take an alternative tree, maybe fire or ice, for a second nuke to use when the first one is in cooldown. Look at fly's guide at the top of this page (its stickied) for more information, but this is it in a nutshell.

First of All, my main character is a Pure Int Spear User with Lightning nuke as main n Fire nuke as secondary for the Cool-down time in between the nuke..
Secondly, i would suggest that you do NOT make a pure Int SPEAR user. imo Sword n shield is the way to go as i haf tried dueling people arround my level.
Sword VS Spear
Spear's Advantages:
More Hp from the weap's passives
More Dmg from the weapon
Sword's Advantages:
SHIELD.
ShIeLd
sHiElD
Overall:
the Shield Pwnz the hp and the dmg difference, @lv30, the passives gives just 329 extra hp. whereas the decent shield can atleast block 1/4 hits. which is
But after reading this, if u still find spear more useless, by all means go ahead
Don't let any1 tell you what to do, it is YOUR character~ these are just my opinions. as for the skills.. listen to Freedom-Fighta
also refer to Fly's guide on the sticki (nukerZ) ^^
