I would go protector because it has little of both and because you have low hp cause of your high mage balance. If you really want to get garments, get really nice ones with alot of +str. Also get a shield with high block ratio, like 17+ or aleast 16.
Garments would good in PvM, but in PVP, nope. If you wear garms. you will die really fast against str based chars in PvP battles. Another other reason why I would go protector. Hope that helps.

At lvl55, the only magical mobs that you will face are ishades/hashades (which i assume your done with now), sonars/planars (which can be avoided in favor of penons (warriors), when you get into the caves, the only magical mobs are the nachals/yachals (im not quite there yet, so maybe im wrong...but whatever is in the last room is magic) and in takla, the only magical mobs are the mages/shamen.
Because there are so few magical based mobs compared to physical mobs i would lean towards Armor because of your lower HP, or at least a good protector set. Increasing your magical damage resistance dosnt seem to make sense against a majority of physical mobs.
Now...pvp is much different, its all a crapshoot cause you dont know who you will be fighting until your there.

Pick one
A) Grinding
B) PVP
IF you picked A, go with ARMOR not protector
IF you picked B, go with GARMS

nachal is magic
yacha is physical.
If you choose armor, pure int spears will be able to 1-hit u. Maybe even hybrid int spears.... your choice really I like protector or garm personally.
