fire does more dmg, ice gives debilitating status. ther is no "better", just different styles of play.

Do ya prefer getting drops from giants, or slowing down the giant so that the fire user, who ran in and started attacking after you've managed to knock off 10% of it's health after a few minutes, takes less damage while he rips it a new one.

I support full INT, but with STR you should just do ICE for PVP, FIRE for PVE. And if he does that more damage then he is also a few levels higher with the next weapon....

Of course I am full INT and can kill any Giant at the same speed a STR can do like a quarter of it's health :P

OK, I concur, go ICE for the physical defense. You'll be a tank without a shield, and a damage dealer without well umm damage.

Go fire. You'll want the physical damage buffs more than a little extra def (esp since you can't use THE def boost, Frost Wall). And you won't hit fast enough to really take advantage of freeze. Compare a glaive's hitting speed to that of a sword. The sword will hit 2-3 times fore every glaive hit and with it, have a chance to freeze. The fire on the other hand will do considerably more embue damage (205-416 compared to 204-236 at max lvls) as well as have 2 skills that add a percentage of damage added (13 when maxed). And since glaives have the highest base physical damage of all the weapons, it only makes sense to complement its biggest strength with your buffs.

This is a problem i came across yesterday. I'm lv 37 full str and my main force is fire. Yesterday I pvp with a Ice Glavier that is the same level as me and we also used a very similar Glavie (both +3 10 crit). I lost due to the often frostbite...i used large pills but the effect still slowed me down. So now I'm thinking if i should switch to ice glaive. Oh and also a question..since I'm full str is the dmg that big of a difference between fire and cold imbue? The person I fought seems to do the same dmg as me.

You make a good point. I have a friend who has a fire glavie build and he got into a fight with a thief who had a cold glavie build and got frost bit and was popping pills like crazy and was still frost bitten.

It seems to me that the pills don't help that much. They might keep you from being frozen, but you're still frost bit.

It would be nice to clear this up. I'm still skill farming and haven't chosen whether to be cold or fire. It seems like cold has a big advantage from watching other people battle.

Do you really only see a major difference at higher levels? I have both ice and fire and both kill pretty slowly. I usually use ice when grinding just so I don't get hit as much.

Does fire really start pulling away from ice damage-wise after you get to book 2 imbues?

Fire imbue adds more to damage than the ice one. If you want ice for PvP just train up ice to 12 to get the bolt, and de level it once you get close to 60 and need the points for something else. From what I've noticed after you pill the frostbite still lasts until you finish the move that you started before you got frostbitten.

Shield users, and higher levels typically arent affected by Cold users, seeing as jewelry can reduce the chance to be frostbitten/frozen, whichd efeats the purpose of using cold.

Fire damage is immediate, and interlinked with Physical damage.

Its anyones guess, however.

no, they cant do that. they reduce the duration of the effect.
the chances are only depending on the skill your ice opponent is using

yep, the fire buffs are a must imho for all str chars. i just got my fire mastery up to lv32 for the buffs (ice glaiver here)

it IS, however, possible to reduce the duration to the point where it's completely nullified. one of the BH high lvls has gotten his freeze reduce to a point where the most hardcore frostbite effect only lasts 2 secs, and with the addition of one more piece of 15%+ frost jewelry, he'll have it completely gone.
