I am trying to follow recommendations from the many guides and discussions located here and at mmosite. My first couple characters were hybrids... which don't seem to hold up well in high lvl pvp.
Here is where I'm at now:
Char lvl 24
Skill lvl 19 -- Sword, Lightning, Fire
I plan on getting thesel masteries to 20, then keeping an 8-9 lvl skill gap
leveling slowly will also provide large money gains, allowing for better equipment
Based on the skill database at mmosite, Ice offers +84 def at lvl 60, +97 def at lvl 70.
It is generally agreed that ice imbue is the most anoying and deadly
For this very reason ice is the first of the elements to be countered by equipment (i.e. freezing/frostbite reduce x%). This is the primary argument against investing in ice.
So my question is... why not ice?
84 def is pointless?
Ice imbue is always worthless?
Or just too lazy to farm the skill points?
Blade use ice?

Just get mastery up to 68 or 69 for the highest def buff. i cant really remember but i seen it as lvl 69 on sro.mmosite site. And no, the def buff isn't pointless. its very good to get vs glaivers, and str bows.
The Ice Imbue on the otherhand is useless at higher Lvls like 60+, since there immune to it. At lower Lvls its fun to mess with people and kinda annoying using it. But some people in lower levels dont really fight "for real" so they dont carry cures, hp pots, or mp pots.
Anyways, just to get things right:
Ice Imbue - Bad
Def Buff - Good
Ice Passive - Good

I got this from sro.mmosite.com
Fire obviously cannot cancel ice by itself, but I don't understand what the effect numbers mean.
Ice
lvl 69 ice imbue... effect 150
lvl 67 cold wave.. effect 124
lvl 69 frost nova.. effect 146
lvl 69 ice rain...... effect 80
Fire
lvl 68 fire shd...... effect -78
How much freezing/frostbite reduce does it take to counter the ice effect?
Or do you alchemy equipment until you have 100% reduce?
What size universal pill will grant effect -72?
Thanks for your replies.

Fire shield skill is a % (dont argue with me on this cause im right)
So the last book at 78 = 78% Reduced.
Which means you only have to get the last 22% added onto your jewels.
Around 80% of the ppl at 64+ are immune to at least ice.
Also btw being a blader you already deal low dmg, adding ice will make it hard for you to kill people.
Stick with fire

percentage? Wow, ok. Ice immunity isn't that hard to achieve then. Thank you for the info.
So zexy, would you say the leveling faster (aka farming less skill points) is more important than ice's physical def boosts?
Has anyone confirmed an increase in the level cap and higher level skills?
Are the upper level fire, lightning, and sword skills (and the respective higher masteries to unlock them) worth sacrificing the additional def? By this, I mean that swordsmen should sacrifice ice's def boost in favor of gaining Fire's % damage above lvl 70?
Should a Glaive user should get ice for added def?

Dude farm, the ice buff + ice passive is like 100+ psy def when maxed.
You can do like 70 heuksal / 60 cold / 70 fire / 60 light.
And just for planning ahead and lets say in 5 years you reach lv 90 you can do 90 heuksal / 60 cold / 60 fire / 60 light
Ugh oh yeah about the skills, no new skills will be added, mastery levels will still be able to be upped to your current level though.
Ksro has lv 90 and everything we basicly dont have. And they still have max lv 69 skills.
